I think you hit it dead on, it may be different depending on numerous factors (date of separation, if your DFAS analyst inputs it ASAP, etc.). I had not heard of any lengthy delays in receiving the pay, but I have not really been tracking this issue, either. Probably, the best answers will come from other members here (hint, hint, y'all, chime in!).
I hope you get it quickly and have some good luck with the job issue. It is really hard to leave the military, move, and try to pick up with a new life in a short period of time.
