Question contemplating medical retirement 31 year vet

Hi all, I thinking of going through the process for a medical retirement. I am currently in CA Army Guard. 31 total years, 3 active and 1.5 on OIF. I have a 30% disability rating from the VA. I service connected disability cause me to have problems preparing and doing the APFT. I have to go before a EQRB every two years (enlisted qualitative retention board) this could cause me to be put in a non retained status. This would cause me to be involuntarily separated. From a financial standpoint I believe being medically discharged would be a better way to go. Any advice someone can give would be appreciated. I am a full time Federal Technician (dual status) so my active drilling status is a must to keep my full time job. I think if I am medically retired I would be eligible for some type of monetary compensation. Any help on this matter would be appreciated.
