How will this affect meb?

How will the following situation against me affect the MEB process?
Due to the injuries I sustained in Iraq and the physical problems they have caused I am no longer able to exercise like I need to. The profile I am on limits me to only doing the waist measurement for the PT test. I had major shoulder surgery and a torn leg muscle that was not treated and is now inoperable. My shoulder limitations are now permanent and having to compensate for the torn muscle has given me early arthritis in both knee's and hips. Now on top of all that I just received a referral to get an MRI for back pain brought on by the bad leg. My command just this past weekend served me with a UIF, LOR, and 3 LOC's for not meeting standards. I got the speech about not doing my part in staying in shape and fit for duty by not exercising like I should and that I could be facing the possibility of separation. If I were to start exercising like they suggested and aggravate my injuries by doing so I would be clearly disobeying a direct order from my military doctor by going against the profile limitations. I have contacted a JAG but have not heard back from him yet.

While undergoing an MEB/PEB you cannot be administratively separated for non-misconduct reasons against your will. Get with the JAG, but, aside from the harassment and poor leadership, you should be fine.

    owensts,

I know your pain... I have some of the same injuries, and I struggle to pass the PT test as well. Currently, I am waist measurment only as well, and seeing the good Lord blessed me as a short stocky man, it's not easy. Last year, I fail 3 consecutive PT test before finally begging my PCM to allow me to do crunches. I was able to squeak out a 75.5 and offically pass. Now a year has passed, and I will be testing next month (April), and I know right now, I will not pass. I've discussed this with my Supervisor (who happens to be the Flight Chief), and he's assured me that nothing will happen to me. While undergoing an MEB, they cannot Admin seperate you for PT failure.

You're going to have to grow some thick skin, because as you know, once labeled a PT failure, people seem to think you cannot do anything right. Hang in there, and keep your chin up. You might take some harrasment, but thats about all they can do to you... Best of luck!

Hang in there. If you're AD AF the PT regs change 1 July that allow a 37.5" AC to pass for PT.
