Soooo, here I am at my 11 year mark in the Marine Corps with an ankle injury that's just as old sustained in Week 3 of boot camp. With a near total bone graft in 01 and a total of 4 surgeries and needing more, the Marine Corps has found me fit for duty. I have never completed a CFT or run a PFT since Nov 07....but I'm supposedly fit. I will be returned back tomy reserve unti after being mobilized for four years and the minute I cannot perform the physical requirements, I will probably be put up on a retention board. This will not happen to me I assure you. I will drop to the IRR immediately and fight this every step of the way. My med board was a total farce completed half heartedly by a PEBLO who simply offers a signature and relays the findings. I cannot be completely sure thtat the convening board reads or even know what the copius amounts of documentation mean. I also find it strange that we are not offered specialists in the area concerning injury. Clearly an orthopedic doc might be a bit more educated than a PCM when it comes to reading. This is the DoD's way of saving money as they are probably sure I will receive VA benefits.....hahahahaha! The Marine Corps broke me and now they WILL fix me one way or another. I know that I am not the only one in this boat but, I have worked with the Wounded as a VA Liaison for the Marine Corps and also served as a LimDu Coordiator for all Marines aboard a Joint Base. Just far too educated to go down like this. I have given them far more thanmost would and although if given the opportunity I would continue but, I know that I cannot physically compete and therefore am not viewed as a "TOTAL"Marine anymore.

When did you package get sent to the board to be rated? Your findings are very similiar to part of mine and just trying to get a clear picture of what it is that went wrong for you.

Did you by chance have to go through JRB Fort Worth? They are about worthless there! That is where my board went through and sounds like you got about the same "quality" of care I did.

OMG, did somebody say JRB Fort Worth? I shivered when I read it. Those people almost destroyed my life, literally. The incompetence was mind-boggling. After a two-year long ordeal with them, my unit actually recalled an officer for two days just to accompany me to the sep physical to watch my back. The officer sat in a chair with a book, and moved from clinic to clinic as I did. My Formal PEB actually commented on the fact that the admin problems were probably responsible for my chronic depression. Sounds like things haven't changed much there. Seriously, if you are going thru Fort Worth, watch yourself -- not just the med folks but the admin folks too. When I say they screwed up every single possible thing they could, I am so not exaggerating......
