Exclamation Timeline? MODS please look (esp Jason! :] )

    Hello,

So I understand this DES Pilot is a somewhat of a lengthy process... I need a little bit of help though understanding time lines.... See below link, page 4....

    http://www.tricare.mil/DVPCO/downloa...efitsPilot.ppt

Ok, so with the the referenced timeline, I need to know the time it takes once I finish my exams (which I started 6 AUG, and completed 18 AUG), how long does it take for the VA Regional Office to send back my ortho exam (the one on the 6th- the reason I am being boarded) to the MEB for further processing? How long does it take for the MEB to review the VA's findings and pass them to the PEB?

Does anyone have a better timeline/ reference material then the one above?

Point blank, I have not been able to get a concrete answer as to a step-by-step outline for this entire process. Everyone I have asked, PEBLO, MSC, etc, has somewhat circumvented my question and has referred me to the above, as this is a entirely new process for my MEB Chain. For example, do the numbers given on the powerpoint mean that is the maximum alotted time for each step given, or is the the time given after the beginning process of each step has been initiated?

Assuming everything goes as according to plan, fingers crossed mind you, and I agree with my findings (PDRL, >30% on PEB side, etc.) what is the estimated time until I was to be retired?

At what point does the SM recieve a seperation/ retirement date. What about accrued leave? COnsidering I have roughly 60 days of leave now, at what point am I allowed to begin terminal leave?

    Gah, this is killing me!

    Thanks!

    spear504,

I think that you will be disappointed with this answer. But, you can help improve things.

Short answer is no. However, if you post your milestones and others do the same, we will be able to see trends and average times.

From the slide, if I understand your question, the time is for each step. Also, I think that the MEB Chain's lack of meaningful answers makes sense because there is not a lot of track record to judge from and the sample size (number of cases processing) is relatively small, making difference in cases have a more pronounced effect on "averages."

Assuming everything goes as according to plan, fingers crossed mind you, and I agree with my findings (PDRL, >30% on PEB side, etc.) what is the estimated time until I was to be retired?
I think, based on the slide, the answer is 90 days. That is arrived at by starting with the 15 days allotted for "Admin and Record Transmit" and adding the 45 days for "Transition" and 30 days for "Reintegrate." But, this is all based on the slide. There is no consequence for an individual case not meeting the timelines (the 2008 NDAA requires them to track and report timelines and if 50% of the cases take more than the average, they are supposed to seat additional MEBs/PEBs). So, I would think of the times as "goals." This is not to say that your case may not go faster. There are many variables (workload, complexity of case, quality assurance reviews, etc.) that can speed or delay an individual case.

At what point does the SM recieve a seperation/ retirement date.
After your case is finally approved, orders will be issued (the components handle this somewhat differently).

What about accrued leave? Considering I have roughly 60 days of leave now, at what point am I allowed to begin terminal leave?
Usually, this is left to your local command/installation to administer (though, again, the services handle this somewhat differently).

Understandable, but keep your spirits up...the end of the process is coming!

Unfortunately, I really can't add anything more than what Jason has already said. Since the start of this forum, one of the big questions has always been the timeline. There's a thread that was stickied where people have put up the times that is has taken their personal cases, and it's just kind of all over the place.

I hope you're able to come to the end of it without getting driven too crazy.

To answer your question in my case it took aproxx about a month for the VA to process my claims and submit them back. I hope this helps.

Red face Re: Timeline? MODS please look (esp Jason! :] )

I'm afraid this isn't going to make you very happy...but I started the MEB process in Jan 2008, finished part II in July 2008, finished VA exams Oct 2008, completed local MEB at Andrews AFB May 2009, package sent to AFPC - Randolph AFB, TX July 2009, received results from IPEB 23Oct 2008. I have until Monday to decide whether or not to accept them or not...wish I could be more uplifting...I hear it goes quickly for some people...

    Chin up...Best wishes!
