Hello, I will soon be medically separating out of the Navy.
People have told me and I've also read about horror stories of having a DD214 error and problems when receiving VA benefits among other issues.
So before I get my DD214, I want to verify EXACTLY what to look for (codes, which boxes, etc.) and upon receipt of the DD214, what I should do with it? (how many certified copies to make from where, whether or not to hand over the original to the VA case manager for IDES process)
I don't know why but I've heard VA case manager located in NMCSD is asking for the "original copy" and I was told never to give up your original.
Thanks for all the info, and ASAP replies would be greatly appreciated!
