Like I said, hopefully the VA will be able to do you one better. But things like wheelchairs and such are huge business to companies that make supplies for hospitals and such. I would bet there's plenty of good ones that'll break down to fit into the trunk of just about the smallest car, it's just they don't supply to the military or something.

Since the VA doesn't rely on military contracts and such, I bet they'd be able to hook you up with a good one.

Yeah, my grandpa had to go through the VA to get an oxygen machine and I can't remember what else. It definitely was a civilian place they gave it to him from, because the civilian company came out whenever the machine needed fixed/refilled. I mean to say a civilian company not affiliated with the military.

Hey guys,
Heres an update. I spent the last week feeling like a little kid on christmas I knew I was good all year(all my paperwork was strait and complete) and i was hopeing to god i got the red ryder bb gun i was asking for (The % i should get).

Anyways, I have good and bad news. Good was that I got rated 30% for my left foot. Bad news was that I only got 0% rating for my narcolepsy even though it is so bad they won't give me a job and have taken my license away. Overall it is TDRL.

I guess my question is should i fight for a higher rating for my narcolepsy. I know my foot should be a 30-40% rating so i completely agree with that. The narcolepsy however says in the VASRD that it should be rated;
A.) By INDUSTRIAL IMPAIRMENT
B.) according to epilepsy petit mal
My evaluations state that I have a definite industiral impairment because of the narcolepsy. The VASRD states that if you have 5-9 attacks/week you should be rated at 40%.

Now when calculated those percentages would put me at 60% thus increaseing my pay. But I take a chance of loseing what I have.

I am looking for any advice as to what I should do. I am thinking about writeing a letter requesting a re-evaluation along with my request for a formal hearing. But I am really in all ways trying to avoid going to the formal becaus the next date for a formal right now for me is mid JUNE and I don't want to still be here in JUNE.

Agian any advice or anything is welcomed.

Given your VA disability will likely off-set your military retirement, you may not gain anything by increasing the rating from 30%. Once out, you can challenge the rating at the Army Ratings Review Board. That way you will not have to worry about coming out with less.

do i have to appeal right now in order to be able to appeal Army Ratings Review Board. And I thought if I were able to get 60% that that would increase my pay to 75% of my Base pay is this correct.

How are these attacks documented? Is it you told them that you have 5-9 attacks a week? Or is the documentation originate from a study that shows that?

Well first i had a MSLT (Multipule Sleep Latency Test) by a sleep specalist and it came back that that day alone i had 5 sleep attacks. but that was in one day and that is truely what my common day is so that is how i it was determined then i stated from day one that that is how it always was and its been documented since then in that matter. i fell asleep 5 in one day after a full nights rest with out any medication in my body tox screen to prove it. and all five times it was with an average of 2.8min after the test started.
