I am on cloud nine right now. I have signed my findings at Balboa today. 30% PDRL! Wow! I am amazed at how fast the findings came back. I am in awe of the findings as well. I am ready to move on to the civilian world and am happy to. Thanks to all who have helped me along the way. Jason, what you are providing with this website is above and beyond. Thanks again and SEMPER FIDELIS!!!

Good evening to all,
As I sit here tonight I have mixed emotions. I absolutely love the Marine Corps and what the Corps has done for me and my family. I am also excited about this new adventure I am about to embark on. I am not sure of the ratings codes, I should look at the findings and see. To be honest, I can never get past the Permanent Retirement from Active Duty statement. As I have said before, I am amazed at the speed of the board and the outcome. I am at a standstill due to not have an EAS yet. I made some phone calls to DC (PEB), and got my index number. I called HQMC Separations and gave them that number today. Mind you, I called yesterday and was told they didn't have any of my information. When I gave them that number, here you are Gunny, EAS, Unit Diary entry, and the like. I can't count on everyone to know their stuff. So I have an EAS and I am going through the command to get out of here.

To the new members, please read, read, and read. This forum has a ton of info and very willing and helpful members. I can't say thank you enough to all who have responded and helped me through this ordeal.

For my next mission, landing a new career. Jason, is there something on here that could have some job postings listed by state?

Thanks again to all, I will keep in touch...
Take care and be safe,
Scott

In the Transition section, there are a few sites listed that may interest you about job listings. Good luck!

I'm in the Army National Guard. I just received my LOD back from NGB - Line 15 on the DD Form 261 says 'IN LINE OF DUTY-EPTS-SERVICE AGGRAVATED-THIS EPISODE ONLY FOR ASTHMA" -

Now....although I have 12 years "total service" toward retirement with the NG, My computations show that I only have a little less than 3 years total AFS (active duty with the Navy_) I have requested a PEB (not sure if I should have done that or not....but MEDCOM said that it would be in my interest to do that if I was looking for a disability rating or severence pay) -

My questions:
WILL I receive severence pay based on my Active duty time or will they combine Active Duty and National Guard time to base my severence pay?

Second: Does a PEB generally go with the LOD determination in my favor? Because they're saying EPTS (existed prior to service which is not true...I did not come into the military with Asthma) - will the PEB give me a disability rating? This is just so confusing to me!!!

The Unit/PEB must provide "clear and unmistakable" evidence that the condition did not mainfest nor aggravated while entitled to basic pay. Insist that they provide that evidence.

If you asthma manifested while on active duty and that is documented, that will help. It becomes more problematic if it manifested during your reserve status as most of the time you are not entiled to basic pay nor are you performing reserve duty. If you can be found fit and make it to 15 years in the reserves, you can get a reserve retirement due to being unfit for an EPTS condition.
