Hey,
Can you tell me how long the process took? Primarily, when did you sign for it to be referred to the IPEB, when did they confirm receiving it, and when did you get your results? Your inputs are greatly appreciated.
Tim

In most cases, getting a 30% PDRL rating is a very good outcome. You will be permanently retired and receive health benefits for you and your eligible dependents, among other benefits.
Depending on how many years of service you have, you may not do any better with a higher rating when you calculate offset of VA compensation.
Do you agree with the facts that they found and your rating?
Please let us know any questions.

What benefits are there for dependents? You mentioned health benefits for dependents also. Just got IPEB results @ 10% which I want to challenge, but am not aware of any threshold for extra benefits after a certain range. I will have 22 yrs in December.
Thanks for your help.

The benefits are the same as for a length of service retiree: enrollment in TriCare, access to commissary/PX, etc. The threshold for most is 30%, however with more than 20 years, any unfitting condition (and any rating) will result in retirement with minimum calculation of 2.5% times years of service.

Not sure how to figure my pay if I took this several years ago, or if it's straight 2.5% since it's a disability retirement.
Also, what family benefits do you receive? I know I would receive VA care, but do my dependents, too?
I'm so grateful for this forum. It is the only lifeline for information to plan for our future. God bless you and what you do.

Rufus,
Here is a link to some CSB/REDUX discussion: CSB/REDUX 30,000$ question.
The retirement pay calculation is unaffected by CSB.
Yes, you will be able to apply for VA benefits, but remember, you and your eligible dependents will get military retiree benefits (TriCare coverage, PX/Commissary access, use of MWR facilities, etc.). As far as what VA benefits your family members would be eligible for will really depend on the specific circumstances. Generally, there is not much, but in some cases there are compensation, education, or other benefits.
Glad to help and best of luck in the future!

Please let us know any questions. | As of Jan 08 the laws have changed on the VA offset...these are 2 different pots of money...they can no longer offset your money from the armed forces... Disability Severance Pay Print and foward to your VA regional office

14Karat,
Thanks for posting that. It is very important to keep in mind that this is for severance pay only and not for retirement pay. The statute removing the offset only applies to severance pay.
