Post In process of IPEB

I am a Marine Stationed in Japan and I am awaiting the results of my IPEB. I have been on limited duty for a year and a half do to an injury that occured while working. Then while on light duty I was forced to pt with my shop. So instead of my knee healing it got much worse. I got diagnosed with muscle degeneration and nueropathy entrapment popliteal. Pretty much any time I exert my knee ( even walking to much) my muscle swells and my nerves get crushed. I have bad enough damage that it will take several years to heal if it ever does and the docs said there is nothing they can do for me. This leaves me in either severe pain or paralyzed from my knee down. I can't pt, deploy, or do my MOS. I have only been in for three years and I am worried that because I am only a year away from my EAS and my package was written by a orthopod and not a nuerologist that I will get put back on full duty or permenant limited duty. My package has been gone for almost two months and my peblo can't tell me nothing. So I have no idea how much longer to expect before I get some word. I am anxious and nervous and worried. the only experiences that I have had with this process did not work out for either party.

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

I'm being boarded for my knee as well (severe meniscus tear) and know how difficult it makes getting around, and how painful a knee injury can be. It took me about 6 weeks (43 days, to be exact) between my packet going out and getting my results back. However, the results were terrible and now I plan on going to the formal board.

The amazing amount of information here helps with the worry. You get a much better sense of what laws have to be followed, how the process works, etc. through this site. Not to mention having your questions answered by people who have legal expertise in the field, and from people who have been through it themselves.

I highly suggest checking out the Conditions & Ratings section of this forum. There are stickied threads at the top from the VASRD (Veteran Affairs Schedule for Rating Disabilities). If you can't find what applies to you, or can't get them to open, I'll copy them and post them here for you.

Good luck!

Post Re: In process of IPEB

I found what my codes are but how do I use these to see what percentage of disablity that I rate. And I know that the knee sucks. I am so tired of eating pain pills everyday I am starting to feel dead to the world. I asked for weaker stuff and I was told no. How often does that happen? Well my package left here over 45 days ago and still no word. I am partially thinking it may have something to do with a lazy peblo. Is there a way i can have someone else from medical find out the status of my package? Because I think it is bs that my peblo treats me like I am being the worlds' biggest inconvenience just because i call to see if there were any updates. I really just want to be told something... anything.
