Default RILO Thoughts

I'm active duty AF E8 with 24 years served, last year I went through an MEB and was returned to duty with an assignment limitation code C2. In 2006 I was diagnosed with throat cancer; I was successfully treated and my condition is stable. I am due a RILO in March and I'm a little concerned, should I be? Does anyone have experiences or know of outcomes for similar cases. I would like to stay active until my high year tenure.

Although I suffer from residual effect or radiation treatment I can still do my job, just can't deploy. I can do some parts of the PT but I can't run or do push ups.

Thanks
Stoj

I have seen your post, but thought my case was a bit different. The way I understodd yours was a RILO that turned in to a full MEB. Mine was an MEB, returned to duty with an annual RILO there after. There aren't many folks that have been in my shoes where I'm at so I'm looking for any input I can get...

My friend has been through a "real" RILO. We talk often, however I think he is PCS'ing here in a couple days. RILO in short to check on your condition, to make sure it has not turned to the worse. If it has turned for the worse then it will iniate a MEB again with the new findings. So basically if nothings gotten worse, then it will be short and sweet. If things are better, then they may consider removing any assignment limitations that may have been placed on you.

So many things at the MEB (and by extension RILO) level are hard to predict because the processing is de-centralized at the MTF level. That being said, I think that with new disaqualifying conditions, you would be sent to an MEB.

After that, if you are in remission and otherwise not limited in duty performance, a return to duty finding by the MEB or a fit finding by the PEB seems the correct result.

Please let us know any questions.
