meb what can i expect

I am new to this site and would like to get some info. first of all i am in my second enlistment and have been in for 6 years. i started having chest pain while at tech school 5 yrs ago and have seen many specialist and have had a heart cath. i have been diagnosed with prinzemetals angina which occurs mostly at rest and is very unstable. the canadian cardio society angina grading scale classifies me as a cat. 4. i am on medicine to try to control it but still have attacks. i also have knee problems which started in 05. i have had two knee surgeries on one leg and still have problems. 1st-lat release 2nd- tibial realignmet. i have been told i can have another surgery but it may be worse than it is know so i have decided not to. i also have decided not to have a surgery on the other knee because of so many problems i have had with the first knee. i am know being processed through the meb and was wondering what i might be coded and what i can expect through this process. also is there a standard % for surgery?

Well first we would need to know what they are doing the MEB on? Your cardio problems? or knee problems. Basicly the MEB board is only evaluate a condition that is considered Unfit for duty.


Remember the VA will rate you for everything you have that causes a disability. The Air Force only rates you for an "Unfitting" disability.

from what my pcm has said, is that both my knees and my chest are going to be in the report and both are limiting my ability to perform my job title. (mechanic)

It is hard to know what are the appropriate codes without knowing the diagnosis and functional limitations, specifically any Range of Motion limitations. There is no code for "surgery," the codes relate to functional impairment for specific parts of the anatomy or systemic diseases.

Basicly the MEB board is only evaluate a condition that is considered Unfit for duty.

Slight tweak to this, MEB evaluates what conditions are "disqualifying for retention," PEB makes "fit or unfit" findings.

I did some research and found my code for my prinzemetals (myocardial infraction) per afi48-123v2 and the vasrd. as far as the knees i am unsure. do you know if they will do a range of motion test or do i have to request one?
