Default understanding the MEB Process( lupus)

A little help please, my wife has 14 years of active service and just found out she has systemic Lupus. does she just get MEBed with a % ? I heard 2 times her base pay times years of service, not to exceed 90,000. And or does she also get a % of VA disability for life. thanks

With <30% rating\you get a severance pay as you descibed. At >=30% she get retired per her %. She can collect VA, however they will want to collect whatever she got from the military, before they compensate her.

rjohn006,

Welcome!

Severance pay will be calculated as 2 times 14 years times base pay. There is no $90,000 ceiling on this payout.

VA awards can adjust up or down based on current condition. So, I would not characterize it as "for like" but for many people, this may be the result. As X mentioned, there is an offset in the majority of cases.
