Default Question

My husband was injured last deployment. He's 11B. For the past year he has made alot of improvements. He just got placed on a permanent non deployable profile. I know its a p3 and the rest is 2s and 3s (mainly the physical is what he can't do) except for hearing and eyesight thats a 1. He has chronic back and neck pain, has to do his own pt still and has been diagnosed with severe ptsd. We are waiting for his physical at the end of the month. Is it possible for him to still be able to stay in. He really wants to and I hear about some people that have a non deployable profile and were given desk jobs instead of meb. He's been in 6 years and an e4, has never reclassed, has never gotten in trouble. His reenlistment window opens in April and he's been told he's eligible for reclass. Can he fight the meb til then and then reclass through the reenlistment or should he just hope for an mmrb. Basically is there anything he can do that will help him stay in. He loves the Army and his mos but as long has he can stay in he will be happy. Any advice will be helpful and appreciated.

Default Re: Question

aj1008,

Welcome! I tend to think the most likely route for him to stay in would be reclass through an MMRB. This is especially so if his chain of command is very supportive. If he does not reclass, with his MOS and rank, he will most likely be separated or retired. The thing that makes it hard is that for the MMRB, he will want to show that he is still able to function as a Soldier albeit in another MOS. If he is denied and sent to an MEB/PEB instead, the efforts towards retention at the MMRB may undercut the argument for a higher rating at the PEB. So much depends on the facts of his case, I just point out some potential issues.

I hope everything goes well and please let us know any questions.

Thank you for answering. Will they look at how his recovery has come along? He's came a long way. And everything that is wrong the doctors say will heal in time.
