In most cases, it is the retired base pay x disability percentage rating.
The retired base pay is arrived at by taking the average of the highest base pay for 36 months (whether or not consecutive).
The other calculation would be retired base pay x (2.5% x years of service, with fractions of years, but not months, counted).
I have not seen them mess this up at DFAS, giving the higher calculation, but it is worthwhile to check if you have more than 12 yrs (which is the point at which you would break 30% on the immediately preceding calculation).
