Question somatoform disorder NOS

I have been in the navy for 5 yrs. I am an E-5 dental LAB technician in april i developed pain in my joint and went to medical the pain was strong and the doctors could not find the cause of it. afterr several test they could not find anything. then they refer me to psyc by the time i see the psyc my pains faded away but the psyc still put me throught the MEB and PEB. i am able to carry all my duties and my command dont have problems in keeping me in the navy. what is more likely to happen? the doctor said that im being referd to the PEB because of the number of test and appt that i have in the past . I indicated him that i did not order those tests, the doctors did it. i want to know if there any change that i can stay in? if there is, how big is the change? and if there is no change, what is the rate of disablity that i could get? please help me

velez169,

Welcome and good to have you!

You sound like a good candidate for a fit finding and return to duty. In order to be found fit, your condition must be found to not unreasonably interfere with performance of your duties. Do you have any periods of LIMDU? Any limitations whatsoever in performance of your duties? If you chain of command supports you and the Narrative summary is supportive, you should not have a problem getting a fit finding. Make sure you review the MEB Report and disagree with any inaccuracies.

If you are found unfit, you will be rated on the General Schedule for Rating Mental Disorders, which rates on degree of functional occupational and social impairment. So, the rating will depend as well on how your condition impacts you.

Best of luck and let us know any questions!
