I medically retired on 29 OCT and uploaded my DD-214 to e-benefits the same day. Just wondering how long it will take to get my official final ratings letter from the VA?

The average is 35 days, could be more could be less. Update your DD214 to ebenefits as soon as you get it.

So today on e-benefits, I have a new pending claim dated 29 OCT 17; same day as my retirement. The claim is "under review." I'm guessing this is normal and just means that the are working on my stuff in order to get me my final benefits letter. Anyone have experience with this?

That is completely normal. The first claim is you "proposed ratings" which you have received. The new claim is for the final ratings.

It typically takes 1-2 months for the ratings to be finalized once you have your DD-214 and are completely off of active duty.

For me, I was released from active duty on the 7th of May and I received my final ratings letter on June 10th, with and effective date of June 1st. My first pay arrived on July 1st.

Thanks! I am anxiously awaiting the final paperwork so I can file for some property tax benefits and apply for CRSC. Hoping to get a check by DEC 1, but I'm not holding my breath.

My claim finalized two weeks after I separated. I was able to get into eBennies and print off a bunch of stuff I needed.

Was able to download my ratings letter today from ebennies. So that's 34 days from retirement. Right on what rconnell3 said.
