VA's new ChooseVA' campaign highlights Veteran benefits and services, aims to attract and retain employees

WASHINGTON - Emphasizing a multitude of benefits and services to its 9 million Veteran customers, as well as promoting the organization as a great place to work, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) kicked off its new 'ChooseVA' marketing campaign July 5.

ALL- once again I am sort of surprised at no response form any veteran's here as this, in humble opinion is pretty much nothing more than "Pravda/Tass" see below Wikipedia websites for explanation on "Pravda/Tass" but could be wrong, why vet input on things like this important:

Pravdaat Wikipedia web-address: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pravda

TASS” at Wikipedia web-address: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TASS

Anyway, if go to directed link above Thread will find the following:

In my humble opinion, would like to know were in fact "Choose VA Video" was in fact filmed, as know of no-where in US DVA System, any such thing exists at one location in US DVA System- but could be wrong????? Furthermore, "video" showed an "engineer" developing a "huge" TV Remote- now for some VET's this is highly important as video states- however why not show such things as "developing" "artificial limbs" are "elector-magnetic" devices like "Alpha Stim" as after all what was all US DVA research on "dogs" the US DVA apparently "euthanized" in mass all about????? (see PEBForum Post: "Receiving a Service Dog" at web-address: http://www.pebforum.com/threads/receiving-a-service-dog.25947/#post-206593 - do not know if this "change" took way to amny computer/internet isuses LA....???!!!!)

Also, know a "veteran" Gulf Coast VA System that was told by "Gulf Coast VA System" employees the "new" Gulf Coast VA Director, is in fact just as bad as one the US DVA tried to fire for about a year, re-instated and then "transferred" to another US DVA System in Texas.....????? This "veteran" supposedly tried to "verify" via internet sources this "story" and per MHV Secure Message ID 1413576269; but as of yet "All Quiet On the Western Front" so to speak.....humph....???? However below, is some of what veteran sent, while asking for clarification, and stated could "SHARE,: so here goes- see below web links- and other's can simply decide in lieu of no response to "clarification" message:

Anyway, if as per US DVA employees have "claimed" the new Gulf Coast VA director is "kind of" same scenario, as one US DVA tried to fire, then would it not call into "question" any "investigation" they were in fact part of such as:

https://osc.gov/publicfiles/FY2012/12-02 DI-11-1580 Agency Report.pdf- attached file “12-02 DI-11-1580 Agency Report.pdf” (see attached file)

Well, any way, I could be "totally" wrong about all of this, and why "veterans" should be interested in things like this and "perhaps" "Sound Off" if either disagree with myself and or what US DVA has in fact "proposed" and if disagree the perhaps contact "those" whom "make the rules" that "govern" the US DVA- just an idea????" Hope this helps....

All- “simply” a question for thought: “If the US DVA is so good-then why exceedingly high incidents of suicide among veterans?” This is per “VA Releases State-level Veteran Suicide Data, National Strategy for Preventing Veteran Suicide” posted by Physical Evaluation Board Forum Start dateJul 2, 2018 At PEB Forum web-address: http://www.pebforum.com/threads/va-...trategy-for-preventing-veteran-suicide.45884/

Its is great that per PEBForum Post “Aimed at Suicide Prevention, VA Shares Winners of Its Gun Safety Matters Challenge' -Thread starter Physical Evaluation Board Forum Start dateYesterday at 1:32 PM at PebForum.com web-address: http://www.pebforum.com/threads/aim...rs-of-its-gun-safety-matters-challenge.47319/ the US DVA is “taking” some measures to try and abate this see all below link’s quotes from above Post/Thread at PEBForum.com:

Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health “Means Reduction Saves Lives” at web-address: https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/means-matter/means-matter/saves-lives/ below quoted from above web-address accessed 10 JUL 2018:

A number of studies have indicated that when lethal means are made less available or less deadly, suicide rates by that method decline, and frequently suicide rates overall decline. This has been demonstrated in a number of areas: bridge barriers, detoxification of domestic gas, pesticides, medication packaging, and others.
For example, in rural areas of Asia and the Pacific Islands, pesticides are a leading method of suicide attempt (Gunnell 2003). Pesticides in widespread use have changed over time, and suicide deaths have been observed to rise and fall with the toxicity and case fatality rate of the particular pesticides currently in use. For example, the suicide rate in Samoa rose and fell with the introduction and control of paraquat, a pesticide that was more lethal than the pesticides in previous use in the country. Suicides declined dramatically in Sri Lanka following restriction of more lethal pesticides (Gunnell 2007).

Although the “quoted” above does no-t as far as I could tell mention- “firearms” per say, it does “highlight” the issue of toxic exposure in contributing to “suicide”….hummph… see PEBForum.com Post Resource Vietnam Vet's -"The US Army in Vietnam" -"The Bud Harton Collection at the Texas Tech Virtual Vietnam Archive"-Perhaps???? Start dateMay 6, 2018 at PEBForum web-address: http://www.pebforum.com/threads/res...al-vietnam-archive-perhaps.44432/#post-205470 as well as “American Legion Magazine Article "Fort McClellan's Toxic Legacy" -Did Not Know Post Here or Gulf War Syndrome Or WRIISC Wash. Also, “what about” veterans “firearms” rights being taken away for various “guises” such as in ability to “balance- a budget” or a “check-book” and how do they get them back once “taken” away???? See: “The VA is restricting veterans' gun rights without due processBY CHRISTOPHER NEIWEEM - 09/13/16 09:05 AM EDT at web-address: http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-bl...cting-veterans-gun-rights-without-due-process etc.. And various Post’s this website about this issue??????

Furthermore, as I recall a “former head” of the Veteran’s Service Organization (VSO) Disabled Veterans of America (DAV), from Mobile Alabama (See blow web-address/ DAV Article in [ ]), and himself a “quadruple” amputee… and other’s like him would in fact be more interested in US DVA “demonstrating” their “high-speed” research into “bio-integrated” artificial limbs than an “engineer” building a “TV Remote” (although important) in US DVA video “Choose VA Video” at web-address: https://www.choose.va.gov/

[“Coast Guard veteran, quadruple amputee becomes first to lead veterans organizationposted on AUGUST 3, 2016 at web-address: https://www.dav.org/learn-more/news...tee-becomes-first-lead-veterans-organization/ ]

Also, veteran Suicide Rates in Alabama are per below “screen shot” from US DVA web-address’s: https://www.mentalhealth.va.gov/suicide_prevention/Suicide-Prevention-Data.asp and https://www.mentalhealth.va.gov/docs/data-sheets/2014/Alabama_2014.pdf

Capture page 1 US DVA Alabama Suicide Rates 2014.JPG

So perhaps this ex-US DVA Commander can have some “significant” influence in assisting the actual US DVA in “generating” better “prosthetics” and with “suicide-prevention???”

For modern develops in “prosthetics” see for example:

SO All-
“simply” back to my original question for thought: “If the US DVA is so good-then why exceedingly high incidents of suicide among veterans, etc…???” then why are some of the things mentioned this post still occurring and/or not occurring????

That is simply the question I pose for perhaps others more educated than myself to answer?????

Thanks and hopes helps someone….

All- thought I would follow up on the Choose VA” 2 xVideo’s (now) at: https://www.choose.va.gov/ accessed 18 JUL 2018 0435 AM EDT (Video on Right mentions buying home US DVA Home Loan, Social Barbecues, etc…..??????) after seeing article “someone” sent me from the internet by Wired Magazine on 3D Printed Housing! {ANYONE ELSE HAVING ISSUES THIS WEB SITE????? }

So I did some further digging and found the below on 3D Printing utilization by the US DVA:

New Mexico VA Health Care System- 3D Printing Network Includes Albuquerque VAat web-address: https://www.albuquerque.va.gov/features/3D_Printing_Network_Includes_Albuquerque_VA.asp see quote below from above listed US DVA web-site:

The Veterans Affairs Center for Innovation (VACI) recently launched the first nationwide medical 3D printing network through a collaboration with Stratasys, one of the largest manufacturers of 3D printers globally. As part of this effort, five 3D printers donated by Stratasys were installed in VA hospitals across the country: Albuquerque, Boston, Orlando, San Antonio and Seattle. This network will allow Veterans access to customized 3D printed anatomical models, assistive technology devices, orthotics, and other empowering tools.” (What About Home’s????)

New Mexico VA Health Care System- VA to Host 3D Printing Open Houseat web-address: https://www.albuquerque.va.gov/pressreleases/3DOpenHouseRel040717.asp see below quoted from afore mentioned US DVA web-site:

“The open house will be on April 14 from 1-5 p.m. in the SCI Conference Center (Room 1083, Bldg. 45). Experts will be on hand to demonstrate how a 3D printer works. Visitors also will see an assortment of 3D-printed items, including assistive technology devices, orthotics, anatomy models, biomedical device repair parts, research tools, and art sculptures and home décor items related to recreation therapy.”

So why does not the US DVA, Veterans Affairs Center for Innovation (VACI), look into things like at YouTube video titled 3D-Printed Home Can Be Constructed For Under $4,000 (at YouTube video wed-address:
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCzS2FZoB-I
accessed 18 JUL 2018 at appx. 0347 AM CST) to try and solve things like US Veteran Homelessness instead of “home décor items” , TV remotes, and art..?????

----See YouTube video from above 3D-Printed Home Can Be Constructed For Under $4,000 courtesy YouTube video at YouTube video web-address:
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCzS2FZoB-I

A 3-D printed home could apparently be quickly generated at almost same US Dollar cost as a FEMA Disaster Trailer Shelter- given folks no home in US after a
natural Disaster”?????

Furthermore, the US DVA could in fact “partner” with companies and or “charitable” housing organizations to generate a whole lot of Homeless veteran homes very quickly, once required land or property was purchased and get the “veterans” of the street rather rapidly!!!!!

Anyway- simply for “folks” much bigger than myself and those reading this to ponder- perhaps??? However, if others out there agree then please write your elected officials as to why this technology is not being fully exploited by the US DVA to “perhaps” solve “homelessness” and even “hunger” ….(see below)!!!!!

ALL- thanks and hope this possibly helps someone……. (On Veteran Housing see PEBForum Post: "VA Award Letter Question" Thread starter GSWarrior2017 Start date Aug 19, 2017 Forums Medical Evaluation Board Medical Evaluation Board at web-address: http://pebforum.com/threads/va-award-letter-question.41034/page-2 )

ALSO, ANYONE ELSE HAVING ISSUES THIS WEB SITE?????

Additionally, 3D House Printing might also, if “fully-exploited” by US DVA and or others could possibly reduce the US Veteran daily “suicide rate” see PEB Forum “VA Releases State-level Veteran Suicide Data, National Strategy for Preventing Veteran Suicide” by Thread starter Physical Evaluation Board Forum Start dateJul 2, 2018 at web-address: http://www.pebforum.com/threads/va-...preventing-veteran-suicide.45884/#post-208090

[“Following a letter from U.S. Senator, Chuck Grassley demanding justification for the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) expenditure on $10,000 military aircraft toilet seat covers, Airforce officials have announced that it will now pay $300 to produce the part thanks to 3D printing.

“You’ll think: there’s no way it costs that,” said Dr. Will Roper, the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics in a recent interview with Defense One.

“It doesn’t, but you’re asking a company to produce it and they’re producing something else. And for them to produce this part for us, they have to quit what they’re making now. They’re losing revenue and profit.”

ALL- as stated having severe issue's not only this website but internet as well- oddly another veteran I know this local area having same various other web-sites as well and also supposedly "worked with indeginious forces all over the world," more so than I....supposedly.

That being stated "they" asked me to post a Amazon.com review they simply cannot get posted- as IAW them had numerous issues with this- when none in past, and I think relevant as "highlights" not only skill-set's veterans possess, but the US Government expense of "education and training" poured into them and can "SHARE" AT Large in "civilian" work force- (Also tired of contacting Amazon.com Corporate Leadership at [email protected] about these issues and others!)

So here goes as requested:

There is no better way to demonstrate the “Military Decision-Making Process” (MDMP) to those whom have never lived, slept, breathed and eaten it 24/7 in both it in both peace-time training and combat both for higher “Commanding Officer’s” and to execute one’s own mission’s, than through history! “The Sustainment Battle Staff & Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) Guide” Paperback – July 15, 2015 by COL (Ret), Dr. John M. Menter (Author) (at Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0692387366/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Bought both “hard-copy” and kindle” version this book) is a very good “work” and I have utilized similar items as memory “jogger’s” when “dead” tired and/or as “pilots” do a “checklist” to ensure nothing is “overlooked!” Unlike, the “Ranger Handbook” – at Amazon.com- https://www.amazon.com/Ranger-Handb...id=1531993488&sr=1-1&keywords=ranger+handbook , the MDMP is much more highly complex and involved the :higher” the level of operation- i.e. tactical-theater-strategic, which I believe many overlook! The Ranger Handbook was in fact “translated” into Arabic by US SOF forces in Iraq, but many Iraqi’s did not “grasp” the concepts “there-in” only a very few did! Furthermore, the Iraqi’s were “mostly” trained in the UK Military MDMP and or Soviet MDMP, not the US MDMP! This is a very “important” distinction, as I too was also trained in another Nations “MDMP” and was very different than the US MDMP I was trained in! (I will differ any comments on comparison, as when working with Foreign National Host Country Indigenous Forces it is most often more effective to let them “run” with what they know, than try to shovel something else down their throats!) Furthermore, the MDMP is based largely and/or tied directly to “intelligence” of the enemy forces and what they may or may not attempt to do- i.e. “fight the enemy, not the plan!” Ergo, one must know, whether “insurgent” or regular “conventional forces- like former Soviet Union and WARSAW PACT Forces, one must know their composition- manpower and eauipent, as well as their order of battle and standard operating “tactics!” That is why such book as “Spetsnaz - The Inside Story of The Soviet Special Forces” Hardcover – 1988 by Viktor Suvorov (Author) (at Amazon.com- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0393026140/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) are in fact simply more than important for US Operational Planners to read! For example on page 148 of Mr. Suvorov’s book it states that “Spetsnaz units at army level…are dropped in areas of operations of their own armies 100 to 500 kilometers, and spetsnaz units under command of fronts are dropped…500 to 1000 kilometer’s…” behind enemy lines! Additionally, Mr. Suvorov covers how Spetsnaz units are trained and includes many pictures such as them “wading through snow-melt” “at the Ryazan higher airborne training school!” Oddly, believe this is village that was destroyed by “Mongols” in movie “Furious” at Amazon.com- https://www.amazon.com/Furious-Ilya...&qid=1531994820&sr=1-1&keywords=furious+movie !

Anyway, for US Military History of the MDMP in action I would highly recommend “Thousand-Mile War: World War II in Alaska and the Aleutians” (Classic Reprint Series) Paperback – February 1, 1995 by Brian Garfield (Author) (At Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/Thousand-Mil...1642629&sr=8-1&keywords=The+Thousand+Mile+War ) as I know plenty of people whom served in the US Military in Alaska and in various capacities in the never ending Global War on Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, etc.…! If memory serves even “notable” US Military Commander’s such as Norman Schwarzkopf, even served in Alaska at some point in their careers. Buying a used book is always an interesting experience as one never knows what one may find written or annotated inside (See attached Presentation)! This book, is in fact a much more through accounting of the War in Alaska than “World War II in the Arctic: The History of the Aleutian Islands Campaign and Nazi Germany’s Arctic Invasion of the Soviet Union.” As the jacket cover by Richard Cuffari explains: “With skillful use of official documents, diaries, and personal interviews of veterans of the conflict, he [the author] has created a dramatic and authoritative account of the war which scarifies nothing in the way of historical accuracy and objectivity…!” This is important, as not only were US Sources utilized, but also firsthand accounts by various enemy “antagonists!” Sadly, as the review of “World War II in the Arctic: The History of the Aleutian Islands Campaign and Nazi Germany’s Arctic Invasion of the Soviet Union,” states (I have included below as it is a “good” short “synopsis” of a lot of the information in this great work!) it too is sadly lacking in “tactical” maps and graphs, but more than makes up for this with very good pictures which dramatize the points the author makes. Furthermore, this book contains great “little” details about various things such as War Bonds, to fund the War! On page 67, the author states, “Taking up Buckner’s battle cry, Alaska civilians started to buy Defense Bonds for a new B-17 bomber to be called The Spirit of Alaska. Within four months they had surpassed every state in the Union by oversubscribing their War Bond Quota by 300 percent.” (See attached Presentation) Furthermore, on page 153, it demonstrates that all of America assisted in this struggle by mentioning contributions of “Mexican-American workmen of the 176th Engineers from Texas!” Oddly, the US Army Brigade in Alaska was “re-designated” from 6th Infantry Division to 176-Separate Infantry Brigade, while some veterans I know were stationed in Alaska! Finally, on page 262 it describes how “Major W.J. Perry, requisitioned a large pack of terriers trained to kill rats. The concerted effort finally won the Rat Campaign” as rats were a major problem! Sadly, this book does not, as far as I am aware cover issues such as Military Attaché’s etc.… nor really go too in-depth in the “major” role “politics” has to play in a Armed Conflict such as in the work mentioned in review below which as stated good “synopsis” this work:

“World War II in the Arctic: The History of the Aleutian Islands Campaign and Nazi Germany’s Arctic Invasion of the Soviet Union” Kindle Edition by Charles River Editors (Author) (at Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/World-War-II...=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=world+war+2+in+the+arctic ) is really a truly “ILLUMINATING READ” as it combines/ discuses all the “facet’s” of warfare and “state-craft” into a very short read. It fully explains why “resources” such as the Finnish “nickel” mines and Scandinavian “fish-oil” were/are in fact “strategic” target’s in a “Global Conflict-WAR” such as World War II and not only that but “peace-time” and/or “dente” as well! Sort of like in today’s age or “era” of the “digital-electronic” world “rare-earth” minerals are more than highly “prized” and in abundance in such places as China, North Korea, Afghanistan, and Iraq, etc.…not to mention “oil!” Furthermore, it discusses why both the German’s and Japanese failed in their “disastrous” adventures in the Arctic. In the case of Nazi Germany, it was Adolph Hilter’s own “failure” to allow his more than “competent” military officers to “prosecute” the war by just simply giving them solid “guidance” and or an End State and allowing them to achieve it- sort of like US President Abraham Lincoln did with both General’s Grant and Sherman during the US Civil War- that resulted in “absolute victory” for the Union! Furthermore, it demonstrates how “espionage’ as well as British Commando raids in Norway, forced the German’s to maintain “high” levels of forces desperately need elsewhere “bottled-up” in Norway, etc.…! Additionally, it “describes” in plain and vivid detail of both the Nazi’s and Soviets “results” of placing both highly “untrained” troops as well as “highly- trained” troops into battle and the various radically “different” outcomes! Kind of like the difference in “causality rates” between US National Guard Forces and Active Forces in the never ending “Global War on Terror!” Furthermore, it “high-lights” the German failure, by relying “too” much on “allied” support in terms of the Finnish forces- slow/delayed deployment of their forces and “back-door” dealings the Soviets!

In the case of the “Japanese” and their “foray” int the US Aleutian Islands, it describes both why they attacked the Aleutians, as in part a “deception” plan to destroy the already highly “degraded” US Navy at Midway Island after “virtually” destroyed at Pearl Harbor! Furthermore, it describes last major Naval “gun” battle of “capital” ships in which both very old US Naval Ships and weapons, such as “torpedoes” and “air-planes” failed in comparison to much superior Japanese “technology!” Also, it describes the lack of “intelligence” information from “Japanese-spies” in Alaska/ West Coast- as were in fact “successfully” detained by the US and left the Japanese “blind” to US Force deployment to a large extent! Furthermore, the US had in fact “broken” the Japanese Naval Communications Code and as in the Movie “Wind Talkers” with Nicholas Cage, etc.…the US had a far “superior” communications code thanks to Native American’s and their language! Finally, it explains the “overall” Japanese defeat not only in the Aleutians but the entire Pacific theater as the Japanese, failed to listen to their “junior” officers and “consolidate” all their quickly “won” gains by not “consolidating” nor securing them with their “army” component and “soldiers” on the ground! Lastly, it discusses the “Japanese” warrior mind-set of “fighting” to the death, which prompted more US Causalities and the “inability” of US combat servicemen on the ground to “capture” viable intelligence assets in the form of “Prisoners!!!!” This is a most “valuable” lesson as one does in fact not want to do things that will “prompt” an enemy to “fight” to the death- such as “violating” cultural beliefs etc.…. as in the Arab-Israeli Wars, were the Arab forces would fight to the death once learned “directly” fighting “female” Israeli soldiers…...!!!!!

Finally, the book discusses the more than “numerous” difficulties” in waging all- land, naval, and air combat- in the Arctic Environment- from weather, terrain, and even local “indigenous” populations! This touches on the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) and the significant “challenges” commanders and staff’s, at all levels, have in “tying” all “components of warfare” (Land, Air, Sea, Intelligence, PSYOPS, Civil-Affairs, Science, Politics) together into a “successful” plan that will most likely not “survive” first-contact with the enemy, and thus numerous “back-up” plans or “branches’ and “sequels” must be developed as well! Additionally, the book “describes” that all forces involved in these Arctic Conflicts’ in fact were given a “End-State” plan to execute for the “political” branch of their nations once the “military” objective had in fact been achieved, like rapidly “rebuilding” infrastructure destroyed, getting “local-populace” back to being “employed” etc.… something that perhaps was lacking in the US involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan???? Furthermore, this book covers the “necessity” of one “Primary” branch of a Nations Armed Services, such as the “Land Component” and all other branches providing, by and large, a supporting role- such as “naval” landings, bombardment, air-superiority to facilitate ground combat operations, etc.…as well as Air Logistical Support- “drop paratroopers, supplies, bombs, move reinforcements rapidly, etc…” to “support/reinforce” “ground” gains as in Finland as this book describes!!!!! Kind of like the movie “Transformers-Last Knight” with actor Mark Wahlberg, etc… where “autobot” character’s with “Prime-Designation” are in fact take the leading role!!! Finally, it briefly “discusses” the necessity of more than highly “trained” forces and the importance of “history” in “understanding” one’s enemy from all “aspects”- cultural, religious, scientific-educational developments, and economy (political as well as actual) etc.…!!!! Kind of like demonstrated in the movie “Patton” with former actor “George C. Scott,” were Patton claims he defeated “Rommel’s” because he read Rommel’s book “infantry Attacks”- see below! This is also demonstrated in movies like “Red-Sparrow” and “Atomic-Blonde” but do not agree Russian method in “Red-Sparrow!” There-in lies the “challenge” of ethically training and fielding much superior forces as opposed to one’s opponent!

One thing that this and other history books on “warfare” by in large neglect, is in fact the “environmental” results of such conflicts and how to “properly” dispose of the surplus of weapons once the “conflict” has ended. As well as the resultant “human-damage” of a nations veteran and their descendants, whom served in the conflict and how those nations have handled them! (See PEB Forum for issue’s both veterans and descendants face with this issue at PEB Forum Post’s “Resource Vietnam Vet's -"The US Army in Vietnam" -"The Bud Harton Collection at the Texas Tech Virtual Vietnam Archive"-Perhaps????”; “WRIISC Washington DC-FYI-Warning Proceed With Caution!”; “Tricare after medical retirement” ) Also, I agree with one reviewer here, that maps are in fact essential to the study of history, and better “maps” and “graphic timeline’s” would have been more than useful- such as something like “American History 1 (Quick Study Academic) Cards” – May 31, 2013 by Inc. BarCharts (Author) (at Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/American-His...rds+–+May+31,+2013+by+Inc.+BarCharts+(Author) )! This “historical” timeline, among other things, outlines a whole host of “treaties” the US both kept and broke regarding such things as trade- which is of more than “STRATEGIC” importance to any Nation! Would have been nice had authors this work includes something of the sort!!!!! Finally, the book “mentions” such small details about the US use of “armor-pricing” ammunition by its Infantry soldiers in the Aleutians as to prevent “bullet’s” from “ricocheting” off the ice and or “ice-built” fortifications….!!!!! Good lesson to learn by “reading” and not “experiencing!” On that note, it also discusses the “importance” indigenous people play, such as the Native Alaskans in “assisting” in both military and civil operations. Kind of like “school of the Americas” where the US trained South American forces to “fight” for their own countries with “minimal” US involvement! (SEE: “Cia: Manual for PSYCHOLOGICAL OPERATIONS IN GUERRILLA WARFARE Paperback” – August 18, 2011 by A M Nagy (Author) at amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/Cia-PSYCHOLO...psychological+operations+in+guerrilla+warfare ) So why could not the US do something similar to this for “issues’ in the “Middle-East” and hopefully, minimize US direct “involvement” and the “Total Cost” of War, as well as “force” indigenous people’s to fight for their “own” INDEPENDENCE as the US, itself, has done several times in its own history!

Bottom-line: This guide to the US MDMP is a great “reference” for anyone as it’s principles can be applied not only to the US Military, but to any “civilian” business as well, as I know others whom in fact done it too some degree “successfully!” Furthermore, the book “Thousand-Mile War: World War II in Alaska and the Aleutians” is more than a great fully researched history- utilizing sources all sides of conflict and more than demonstrates the US MDMP in action from a “historical” perspective! I would also recommend “World War II in the Arctic: The History of the Aleutian Islands Campaign and Nazi Germany’s Arctic Invasion of the Soviet Union” as it to, although shorter version, is packed full of use full information not only on Military Operations but the Political motivations behind them and contains many “valuable lessons learned, that perhaps “others” could learn from….???? More than highly recommend this “phenomenal” work!

PS: In addition to this would also recommend the following “works”:

ALL-Thanks and greatly hope this assist's someone in "potentially getting a job"- i.e. selling their skillset above and beyond Weapons mastery, etc.. but in the realms of leadership, planning, willingness to learn quickly and flexibility, etc....- and "educates" those on the degree/depth of knowledge required to be "solider" in the US Military in the 21st Century.....perhaps???? (I have been know to be wrong on occasion.....!)

ALL- thought I would post here, as believe it is “good example” of how the US DVA is in fact “bound” by the US Congress for what it can and cannot do, etc…??????
The below copied (as cannot quote- having major issues this website, internet, computer etc…)from PEBForum Post/Tread- “Receiving a Service Dog” at PEBForum.com web-address: http://pebforum.com/threads/receiving-a-service-dog.25947/

ALL- thought I would add to this post/thread about “H.R.4764 - Puppies Assisting Wounded Servicemembers (PAWS) Act of 2016-114th Congress (2015-2016)” (see text of H.R. 4764 copied-cited below) at web-address: https://www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/house-bill/4764/text (accessed at 0333 AM EDT) that learned about through a “booklet” scanned and sent me from “Freedom Service Dogs of America” (See attached file: “Freedom Service Dogs of America- Battle Buddy Booklet-PAWS Act- 21 JULY 2018.pdf” ) that states:

H. R. 4764
To direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to carry out a pilot program to provide service dogs to certain veterans with severe post-traumatic stress disorder.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

March 16, 2016
Mr. DeSantis (for himself, Mr. Rooney of Florida, Mr. Rothfus, Ms. Stefanik, Mr. Nugent, Mr. Weber of Texas, Mrs. Ellmers of North Carolina, Mr. Meadows, Mr. Byrne, Mr. Bishop of Michigan, Mr. Flores, Ms. McSally, Mr. Jolly, Mr. Johnson of Georgia, Mr. Salmon, Ms. Gabbard, and Ms. Sinema) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs

A BILL
To direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to carry out a pilot program to provide service dogs to certain veterans with severe post-traumatic stress disorder.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. Short title.
This Act may be cited as the “Puppies Assisting Wounded Servicemembers (PAWS) Act of 2016”.
SEC. 2. Findings.
Congress makes the following findings:
(1) An estimated 14 percent of members of the Armed Forces returning from active duty service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
(2) The resulting hyperstimulation of the fight-flight-freeze response associated with post-traumatic stress disorder poses a threat to the successful societal reintegration of such members of the Armed Forces.
(3) Animals such as dogs can buffer this stress response when humans fail to provide social support.
(4) Interaction with dogs has been shown to modulate symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, such as anxiety, including fear response and hyperarousal, interpersonal difficulties, social isolation, physical pain, and sleep disturbances.
SEC. 3. Pilot program on Department of Veterans Affairs provision of service dogs to certain veterans with severe post-traumatic stress disorder.
(a) In general.—The Secretary of Veterans Affairs, acting through the Office of Patient Centered Care and Cultural Transformation, shall carry out a pilot program under which the Secretary shall provide to eligible veterans with service dogs. The provision of a service dog under the pilot program shall be done in addition to other types of treatment provided for post-traumatic stress disorder and shall not replace established treatment modalities. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall furnish veterinary health insurance for each dog provided under the pilot program.
(b) Eligibility.—
(1) INITIAL ELIGIBILITY.—To be eligible for a service dog under the pilot program a veteran shall—
(A) be diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder rated at a severity level of three or four on the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale for DSM–5 (CAPS–5);
(B) have been treated and have completed an established evidence-based treatment and remain significantly symptomatic, as evidenced by the Global Assessment of Functioning or a similar clinical metric;
(C) have served on active duty in the Armed Forces on or after September 11, 2001; and
(D) have not experienced satisfactory improvement in post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms after being treated with established evidence-based therapies.
(2) ONGOING ELIGIBILITY.—To remain eligible to receive canine health insurance furnished by the Department of Veterans Affairs, a veteran shall see a physician who is a primary care provider or mental health care provider at a Department of Veterans Affairs medical facility at least quarterly.
(c) Contract authority.—
(1) IN GENERAL.—In carrying out the pilot program under this section, the Secretary shall enter into such contracts as may be necessary for the procurement and training of service dogs with appropriate providers that are certified by Assistance Dogs International or a similar organization that—
(A) on average, provides one-on-one training for each service canine for a minimum of 30 hours over at least 90 days including a wellness verification from a licensed veterinarian;
(B) provides an in-house residential facility in which service dog recipients stay for a minimum of ten days while receiving at least 30 hours of training with their new service canine;
(C) ensures all service canines pass the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen test prior to permanent placement with a recipient; and
(D) provides follow-up support service for the life of the service canine.
(2) LIMITATION.—The Secretary may not obligate or expend more than $27,000 for the procurement and training of any dog under a contract entered into under this subsection.
(d) GAO study.—Not later than 180 days after the termination of the pilot program under this section, the Comptroller General of the United States shall submit to Congress a report on the pilot program. Such report shall include—
(1) an evaluation of the effectiveness of the pilot program with respect to—
(A) helping veterans with severe post-traumatic stress disorder live normally;
(B) relevant metrics, including reduction in metrics such as reduction in scores under the post-traumatic stress disorder checklist (PCL), improvement in psychosocial function, and therapeutic compliance;
(C) lessening the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder; and
(D) reducing the dependence of participants on prescription narcotics and psychotropic medication; and
(2) the recommendations of the Comptroller General with respect to the continuation or expansion of the program.
(e) Authorization of appropriations.—There is authorized to be appropriated for each of fiscal years 2017 through 2022 $10,000,000 to carry out the pilot program under this section.
(f) Offset.—The amounts otherwise authorized to be appropriated for Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Human Resources and Administration for each of fiscal years 2017 through 2022 shall be reduced by $10,000,000.
(g) Termination.—The authority to carry out a pilot program under this section shall terminate on the date that is five years after the date of the enactment of this Act.”

One thing the Bill leaves out is Veterans of Gulf War I, as well as surviving Vietnam, Korea, and World War II veterans….

- per “Freedom Service Dog’s of America if veterans want to see the US DVA ever “perhaps” provide this service – “Service Dogs” to veterans- then one should perhaps write their respective elected Officials as well as those on the US House Committee On Veteran Affairs at web-address: https://veterans.house.gov/ as well as the VFW, American Legion, Disabled Veterans of America- DAV, etc…..?????

If decide to write- just a caution from PEBForum PostResource Vietnam Vet's -"The US Army in Vietnam" -"The Bud Harton Collection at the Texas Tech Virtual Vietnam Archive"-Perhaps????at web-address: http://pebforum.com/threads/resourc...s-tech-virtual-vietnam-archive-perhaps.44432/ that states:

Finally, Below Something veterans-ALL- should be aware of but simply seems to be a degree of “apparently” “High-Double Standards” given all in media but once again could simply be wrong:

ALL- sincerely hope this helps someone and perhaps helps get the ball rolling on US DVA issuing service dogs to veterans….????Also, probably quite a few ex-US Service member “dog-handler’s/trainers” out there that would perhaps “jump” at chance to train dogs at the US DVA for veterans…..?????
