Default Confusing Medical Sitatution

I posted my situation in another similar forum and thought I'd post here as well since this forum seemed a bit more appropriate.
I currently have a begin heart murmur, PTSD (from Iraq), anxiety (from PTSD), and high blood pressure (from anxiety)
All this was documented during my five year feds-heal physical and has been sitting on the surgeon general's desk at HRC st louis for about 6 weeks. I also have a VA claim in the works.
Now here's my situation: I have been able to drill and do my duty with the assistance of meds. Some time before my physical my mental health took a dive because a friend of mine who I served with in Iraq, was killed while he was involuntarily attached to another unit. Attending drill is very hard because of both my mental health and my civilian life. I have tried to use my condition to get some excused time off until I get at least a profile with no avail. My unit has treated me like I am trying to get out of drilling even though I have been drilling without complaints with all my issues since 2004. I just can't do it anymore. I ETS in April 2009. Now since all this has happened my unit is trying to send me to the IRR. I don't want this because it could possibly complicate my potential meb/peb process.
So are my questions:

1.How long does the feds-heal process take after the physical to get me a profile and MEB? I've heard it can take up to 6 months, but I don't know if I can wait that long
2. I called the SG office, they said my records are in review does that mean it's undergoing a MMRB or MEB? They said they couldn't tell me anything more
3. Can my unit send me involuntarily to the IRR without my consent?
4.I've also heard since I am a RC component soldier the MMRB can elect to just discharge me without seeing a MEB, is this a possibility?

Basically I just want to know what to expect. This is all confusing to me and there seems to be a lot of exceptions to RC soldiers not on AD. I hate being in the dark especially when it involves something this serious. My unit's UA is not helpful at all. After trying to ask him what I have posted above he looked at me with a confused look and said "feds-what?"

So that's it any help would be greatly appreciated.

do u happen 2 have an LOD 4 your conditions?
you deffinately need 2 get that profile and ensure you med. documentation is straight. me...i keep copies of evrything that has 2 do w/my MEB.

i would deffinately start reasearching the conditions section here for your specific med. issues. and ask as many questions here that u may have. also in order to get 2 the MEB your conditions need to be un-fitting.

when i 1'st got injured in aug 2006 an LOD was accomplished along w/a profile from the navy base where i go for my med. issues. i had a surgery in sept 2006. still remained on a profile untill my 2'nd surgery in may 2007. i came off of my conv. leave and went back to light duty in sept 2007. that's when i was notified of my MEB. almost a year to the day. i'm in the af ang and 1 year seems 2 be the norm 4 being on a profile and going to an MEB. i also filed my claim w/the VA through the DAV as soon as i got hurt.

i would deffinately suggest talking w/your docs. and explain 2 them your situation. when i came back to light duty in sept 2007, my unit was giving me a hard time too. i could just about make it through the day w/the pain. i did everything they asked me to do and i did it w/a smile. but they still busted my ba!!s. i could barley get out of bed. so i just went to my neuro doc. that they referred me out 2 and told him, so he wrote me out untill further notice. then i tokk that paperwork to my militay PCM and they just worte up a letter/profile 2 go along w/what my neuro. doc. said. screw them!

talk to your supervisor, your PCM any of your docs. and be honest. if you have any questions or just want 2 vent i'm always on here. and i'm sure u will find the answers that u need here. everyone here is AWSOME and we're all in the same boat. stay strong!

Rob,
Do you just hate the words "to, too, and two" or is it just killing you to time those extra couple keys instead of doing your normal 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2

Imajus, welcome to the club. There's a lot of great information here, AD or RC. It seems with the people we have here now, just about any question to any scenario can be answered because we've been there already, at least up to a point. I hope this helps you out.

Tucci, I thought you were just practicing for text messenging on your phone. Now I know you're just as lazy as I am.

The Federal Strategic Health Alliance (FEDHEALS) program is separate from the physical disability evaluation system. It is only the mechanism to provide health services. You can get a profile immediately. As to when they refer you to MEB, that is going to be driven to a large degree by the doctors and your command (particularly the command surgeon in the reserves/guard).

It is impossible to know what they mean by "in review," but I would think this means they have not decided about whether or how they are going to refer your case.

You should not be involuntarily transferred to IRR unless your active reserve commitment is up and you have remaining time on your reserve commitment.

The possible outcomes of an MMRB are a recommendation for retention in MOS, placed in 6 month probationary status, recommendation for reclassification of MOS, or referral to MEB. Be aware though that it has been an ongoing issue that Reserve Components administratively decide you are not eligible for MEB processing and they administratively discharge you for not meeting retention criteria. If you get any notice of this, let us know or seek legal advice. This is not proper in my opinion.

Have you submitted a VA claim yet? There is a presumption of service connection for many conditions if you file within a year of leaving active duty.

Thanks a lot for the answers. I had no idea what was going on and my unit admin couldn't answer any questions. I am working on a VA claim now.

Rob,
Man i was just playing and your right I do believe that I am on here just as much as you are but you don't see me typeing with letters, all you see is my horrible spelling all the time. Its funny you see because I am 35F Intelligence Analyst but I can not spell to save my life. I guess I just grew up at a different time and place, where all I do is use things that have spell check. Ha I remember in one class back when I was in high school that they brought in a typewritter and none of had a clue of how to use it.

Hi, I hope I am not too late to help. I was a reservist for 6 yeas after spending 12 years on active duty. I was diagnosed with PTSD/Anxiety/ and another injury all in the LOD/Combat related. OEF/OIF I was released in Mar 2005 with a P4. For 2 years I wrote my congressman, my Unit and Wing CC to ask for help as the regulation was clear that I was to go to a MEB and kept on orders until either I recieved treatment needed and get better or be MEB'd out. Well 18 months later the HQSG contacted me and apologized for just getting my case. I requested to get on orders as I had not had any medical treatment and I was a mess. No luck. I was told I was correct but nothing they could do as the CC had to put me on orders. The commander denied my request. Then, I was referred to the IG. 60 days later I was on orders and sent to MEB. TDRL @ 40%. 3/07 I went to the VA was rated at 90%, I ended up in the hospital Dec 2007 and could not go back to my job that I was failing at miserably due to my medical conditions. I was awarded social security disabiltiy within 20 days of my request. The VA awarded me 100% to UE. I requested my records be reviewed by the BCMR. I recieved a letter stating that I should have not been released due to my profile and that my medical records were delayed for review from 2005-2007 at no fault of my own. My package has been sent to the final decision makers but I am hopeful that they will concur with the SAF. Long story short... Contact the MEB office and get your records. Make 3 copies. Give a set to someone you trust because you will misplace your stuff... Contact the IG and let them do the inquiries. I think as long as you get your ducks and documents in line. It will all work out. Best of luck!
