    Air Force March IPEB Packages

Sorry to hear that. I count my blessing for the Pilot program. I know it takes forever....but I don't think the DoD would have given me "credit" for some of the conditions had it not been for the VA ratings. On the flipside...at least you are PDRL so you can get on with life. My rating is TDRL...

RILO - What is it? Is it good or bad?

AF Docs also use the term RILO (Review in leiu of) as a workaround or a first "stab" at an MEB. Basically, they send your info down to AFPC and AFPC gives the thumbs up to do a full MEB or do a fast track MEB. I guess it saves them(local board) time because it keeps them from doing an MEB on...

New member; IPEB findings received; should I appeal???? Help please.

I'm no lawyer.....but usually with less than 30% you should appeal. You can't get a lower rating than 10% (unless fit which I would think unlikely based upon what you have written). So...you have nothing to lose and potentially a lot to gain. Remember...you want 30% or more==retirement.

Secretary of the Air Force Personnel Committee (SAFPC) cases

Who have you contacted at the MTF(PEBLOs chain of command)? I know at my base the PEBLO works underneath the Med Group CC...I would have your chain seek answers there.

Got Findings & they are great but AF Form 356 is wrong--need help

Jason & all you legal eagles.... I recieved my findings from the IPEB on Monday, 90% TDRL. I am in the Pilot Program and the VA concluded that since they could not distinguish the symptoms of TBI and PTSD from each other...they lumped them together as one rating of 50%. I think this was a bit...

MEB for epilepsy but the symptoms are not epilepsy

First off...you should have 10 calendar days to decide whether to appeal or not (used to be 3 workdays). So, you said you just got your results...make sure you get a full 10 days if you need it...call legal down at Lackland...your peblo should have given you that phone# also. If not...I can get...

Results are in--Meet@1400!! Got a call from my PEBLO this morning. Results are in...I meet with the PEBLO at 1400!! Wish me luck!! Just a little nervous....but I think Med retirement is pretty much a foregone conclusion, just whether I will have to appeal or not.(i.e. did the AF find my...

US Rep Anthony Weiner Rips House on Compensation for 9/11 Responders

This guy is awesome. Difference of opinion....OK i guess. Obstructionism--not OK. Vote NO if you are going to vote NO...plain and simple.

    Asthma/BMT/MEB

Your son should have been given the IPEB decision and had to sign something either agreeing with it or NOT agreeing with it. By not agreeing with it, he would not accept the decision and appeal. I believe it is a Air Force form 1180. Nate

    Asthma/BMT/MEB

I'm no lawyer, but you have nothing top lose by appealing to an Formal Board. I can see many holes in the case already. For starters, I'd get every medical doctor/record you can (family dr) from time before the AF to document he didn't have asthma. I'd get the whole "severe asthma until age 11"...

    Air Force March IPEB Packages

UPDATE: I call the VA every week for an update. I was assigned a rating on Jun 30 (they won't tell me what it is) and now the VA says it has gone to verification (or is it finalization?) where they do the final QA on it. I am hoping that now that it has been 3 weeks they are almost ready to...

AF PEB & occupation loss question

Afdoc, I am concerned about your last post. Not because I have anything to hide, but for privacy issues. The ONLY thing the IPEB or PEB should look at is the medical evidence. Period. It makes no difference if the service member has ten commendations or is an 18 year old in boot camp (with a...

    Are AF IPEB's Moving Faster?

Yes. Combat injuries are supposed to go the top of the file. Alas, it doesn't help if you are waiting on the VA (pilot program). :( So I sit and wait. Good luck to you. I hope you got what you wanted.

Can I withdraw an appeal sent to SAFPC?

Do you have anyone in your chain who will fight for you? Anyone yiou can trust? Honestly, I'd get someone with some rank to call his execs at the Pentagon and see if they can very gently press the issue. Usually they are 0-5s or 0-6s. At this point as an 0-4 I'd call(because I really don't...

    FPEB this week - HELP!

Congrats! Was the breakdown 50% PTSD + 10% ears? That would be my guess.... I am SO happy for you, although I will always believe that hearing issues are underrated by the PEB. Nate :)

    FPEB this week - HELP!

I hope I don't come across like I'm insulting your intelligence or anything...smack me around if I do! :) Hearing is a touchy thing for me too...I lost both my eardrums in the blast in Iraq and then got an infection(in my ears) either from the hospital or the instruments in the hospital. Thus...

    FPEB this week - HELP!

Just MHO but I wouldn't even mention TDRL vs. PDRL....let the board do that. I wouldn't cut yourself short. You are a wounded combat vet and deserve what you ask for. Don't forget that....but also be smart. :) I'm sure you're on top of it but like I emphasized in the last post...drive home why...

    FPEB this week - HELP!

I wish you the best of luck. I have great respect for TACPs...I'm in weather, was stationed with them at the 20th ASOS at Ft Drum, served with them in Afghanistan (w/ 10th Mtn). I'm a Meteorologist and have done Army Support weather downrange, I echo your concern about those truly not being...
