Default Stop-Loss Movie

Has anyone seen this movie? I'm usually excited to see a movie centered around the military, but I'm not really sure about this one. From the previews, it seems like all he does is complain that he's fulfilled his contract, and the Army has no right to keep him in.

I remember sitting around at MEPS watching 90% of the people around me sign their contracts without reading them. I'm not sure if it's worded the same for every branch, but the one I signed for the Navy read something along the line of "we can change just about anything we want, including your MOS, ETS, duty station, at any time without asking how you feel about it first. If you agree with this, sign here, here, initial here."

I have not seen the movie but it was interesting for Hollywood to take a subject that is relatively unknown and make it mainstream. It helped my family and friends understand my own situations that arose in a way.

I was stop lossed myself. I felt like it was bullshit. Here I am being told we are not at war by the government and my own superiors yet at the same time an effort, the stop loss, that is made as a last resort in a great time of need during war was being pushed through. (It goes beyond this to reservist constantly being deployed, national guard, etc.)

The politicians claiming, at the time, we were properly staffed, didn't need to increase the military, didn't need a draft but because we are short handed, I am being forced to stay in. Fine. A few months I am ok with. A year and a half? Crap.... especially for reservist and national guards soldiers.

The thing that really pissed me off was I missed it by thirty days. I was due to ETS sixty days prior to the unit actually deploying but the stop loss kicked in ninety days prior to the deployment hence missing it by thirty days. I had that ninety days ramp up, a year and four months deployment, and then ninety days demob afterwards. Of course this timeline went out the window and now I am stuck here in hell called the MEB where after 10 months they still cannot figure out how to assign me to the WTU, a nurse case manager, and realized the VA never gave me the Part I physical which was suppose to of been about two months ago.

With this event, spending two tours watching my friends get tore the hell up and dying in my arms, the MEB process, it really tainted my emotions and feelings especially with some of the events in my own life (Sexual assault by fellow soldier) that showed this government and military really did not understand what was going on with its soldiers, this conflict, or the world around them. It really emphasized that we are all just that statistical number on their man power rosters, nothing more nothing less.
