Advice on how to appeal my recent comp increase denial.

I have been sitting at 80% for a few years with some issues getting worse. I applied for an increase in 3 areas: headaches, PTSD, and TBI. Completed the required interviews/exams. Result last week: headaches stayed at 30%, PTSD was reduced from 50% to 30% and then TBI was combined with PTSD. So luckily I still ended up at 80%. Does anyone have any advice on where to go from here? Which appeal process would you recommend and what can I do to ensure I don’t get reduced again. Thanks for your time.

Hello @Warrant2

VA decision reviews and appeals

The legacy VA appeals process has changed to the decision review process. If you disagree with a VA decision dated on or after February 19, 2019, you can choose from 3 decision review options (Supplemental Claim, Higher-Level Review, or Board Appeal) to continue your case. If you aren’t satisfied with the results of the first option you choose, you can try another eligible option.

Your question: "...and what can I do to ensure I don’t get reduced again." There are no guarantees, one way or another. Having an accredited VSO assist you might prove helpful.

Good luck,
Ron
