Appealing to SECAF Timeline

When I appealed last year it took 2.5 months to get my answer back.

I hear from OAC around 8-12 months. Mine is at 3 months and hasn't moved.

You can only apply to appeal to SECAF if you go to formal board amd they say discharge/retirement?

I don’t think that’s the case. You have the right to file an appeal with SAFPC for any reason you feel warranted. I understand it to be part of the IDES process. The Formal Board was a breeze and I worried over nothing. The staff is very understanding and sensitive- it’s your health, career, and livelihood they are touching so I think they realize the impact on their recommendations - as long as everything is properly documented and preponderance of evidence clearly shows what you’ve are seeking for them to agree with. I would suggest going to the board if you are trying to increase your ratings...DoD or VA, or both.
