I have been offered 40% disability from the USAF and one of the VA Diagnostic Codes was 6070 for one eye being funtionally blind. In my research I had found that code to carry the SMC and with even more digging thought I had found what it's alpha code was and what it was worth, I think it was K or L and was worth about 90-100 a month which is great. I would like to know if that is correct and if while on TRDL can I even collect the SMC at the same time?

PS yes I am appealing the 40% and asking for a FPEB, we will see the results after 17 Sept. My Group is even sending a medical/non medical assistant. Kind of nice working in a Medical Group in Special Ops.

The SMC is a VA compensation provision. It will not apply at the PEB, but it will be something you can get from the VA. If not eligible for CRDP or CRSC, you will have an offset of your VA compensation by the amount of your DoD compensation. If eligible for either of those programs, you will have a restoration of the offset amount calculated under those provisions.
