Social Security Office contacted me today in reference to my SSDI claim. They told me they would be sending a document that shows what I may receive if approved. They also informed me they have everything they need to process my claim and would be sending it to the adjudicators. Questions: Based on someones experience is this good news? Do they usually send the packet to the adjudicator without contacting your doctors?

PEB

I currently have 15 years of Active Duty time. My question; sorry if I have asked this before but it is not clear as mud. I have under 20 years and have not been deployed unfortunately. Can someone explain how it works Barney Style? In my assessment people in my situation are really fighting for the Tricare medical/dental benefits when they get out (30% or more). Because in the end you either take the DOD or VA which is based on a chart (meaning a PVT and Colonel) can make the same.
Hello. I need to complete a rebuttal request memorandum to get a condition added to my DA 3947. I have completed an IPR and now need to complete the rebuttal. Does anyone have a good example that I can use? I have contacted the MEB legal team but they are TDY until next week and time is of the essense here. Thanks so much for any help.
I signed my NARSUM April 17 and was told it takes 15 days to say if i am fit or unfit. I really like to know so i can move on with which transition it will be. I contacted my PEBLO today and they said if you didnt hear anything, then your unfit. How can i believe that if it does not show on MY MEB/PEB. It shows it was forwarded to the PEB but when i click on PEB, there is no activity just states contact your peblo if you are in the PEB and no data showing. Can someone tell me how long does it take just to hear back if you are fit or unfit.
At 19 1/2 years combined active duty and national guard service, I became disabled (VA ultimately determined me to be 70% for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Chronic Depression, Attention Deficit Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and Paranoia due to Personal Trauma due to Personal Assault while on Military Active Duty, and UI totalling 100% all two years after release). A med board was requested several months before 20 years ended, nothing ever happened, and following release after 20 years, I received a two line letter determining me to be fit for duty. My civilian physicians had done a full psyche eval., I could never return to civilian work after my trauma exacerbation (at 19 1/2 years-while in Guard), never again returned...
Hello. I was found unfit for duty and applied for a COAD back in January of this year. I just got my response back from HRC and the COAD was denied. As it stands are going to medically retire me with 18 yrs 10 months in the books. I called HRC and asked them to give me a reason as to why they would deny the COAD so close to my retirement and was not given an answer. I am extremely dissapointed with this whole process as I cannot believe the military does not have a job I can do until I hit my 20 years. I really don't care about the money situation cause I stand to gain more now than if I retire with 20 years. I just want to finish my time. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Just saw today my VA claim moved from Baltimore to Clevland and says: Claim Type: Regulatory or Procedural Review. I was told by my AF PEBLO i was found Unfit and they were waiting for the VA to apply ratings. Does anyone know what Claim Type: Regulatory or Procedural Review this means. Im so confused and trying to figure out what kind of time frame im looking at since the new IDES pubs say once my docs are signed Ive got 20 days to outprocess and leave and with a family of 4 thats not alot of time to pack and relocate. thanks in advance for all those who input and view.
I have been in the Air Force for 10 years. Two years ago I was diagnosed with Asthma and had to go up against an MEB. I was able to be fast tracked and was returned to duty with a C-2 code. I am required to have a RILO done every year. This year my RILO came back and I was returned to duty with the same C2 code, that was in April. Mid March I got orders to go overseas but I have to get a waiver to go over there. So, from this point all I have to do is see if they would waive me. Or so I thought. The middle of April I got to work and I am told that I have to go see the Assistant First Shirt. At the meeting Assistant Shirt is asking me questions that a remarkably familiar to the ones that were asked to me two years prior. I spoke up and...
My husband will have 15 years in July(Army). He spent the first 3 as enlisted mental health tech(surrounded by shrinks...). He went to OCS and became a medical service officer and comptroller(not typically deployed). His last assignment had him surrounded by toxic leaders(one of which has been asked to retire...). Caused him to have a nervous breakdown/suicidal 14 Mar 2012 and was hospitalized for three weeks. Today, he is inprocessing into the WTU and starting the MEB process. He is getting better and I think he is stable, but they have diagnosed him with bipolar, which is an automatic disqualifier. The shrink even said she didn't know how he made it this far with bipolar(sets off red flags in my head!). He had every intention...
Ok so I tried to get braces a few months back and the CO said no because we are going to deploy soon or he would. My MEB is being started after my physical therapist does her last evaluation. Which at that point my PA said I will have my podiatrist, the physical therapist, and his eval stating I need a MEB. So I know I'm going to start it soon. My question is I heard it can take a yr to get out. And since I'm non deployable. Can I get braces while in the MEB process or starting. They said I only need them for 8 months and the CO will sign off for me to get them but will this slow or even stop my MEB process
I've been a lurker here for a while researching my symptoms and comparing with what others are/have going/gone through. First and foremost, thanks to everyone who openly shares information. It's truly helpful with those of us who are new to the process and once we newbies go through and experience it ourselves, we, too can share our stories and help the next person :) Second, I recently went through a civilian sleep study, where my results reflected Narcolepsy with ESD and cataplexia. Although I stopped breathing a few times suring the study, it was still considered to be w/in a "normal" range. I also am being treated for migraines. I was just informed I would be "MEBd" and have 15 years in (AF). I don't know what to expect, as this...
I was Medically Retired from the USMC in Oct of 2010 less then 20 years of service with a 40% rating from the DOD and a 60% rating from the VA. I logged on to MOL today just to look around, under Chronological Record it says (RETIRED LIST MAINT/SPT SECTION (MMSR-7) RUC: 88870 MCC: RET INACTIVE 20101031 JOIN RUC 88870 MCC RET TDRL). Was I placed on TDRL? Because on my (Finding Commentary of the Physical Evaluation Board) It says PDRL. The DOD paid me a retirement pension up until the VA started paying me for disability. I currently have a DD-Form 2 (Retired) ID card, on the front of this card it says Expiration Date INDEF, and on the back it says EXP DATE 2052SEP30. Any help to clear up if im TDRL or PDRL. Thanks
SO here is my question. When does the MEB process start officially? I have done my NARSUM on 5 Apr 12. I have metatarsalgia and have had foot pain for over a year. Start on 6 Apr 11. They have run out of treatment so they have code 37 me and started the process. The reason for the question is i have failed 4 PT test in 2 years and have been on a No running/walking profile (for PT to normal day to day) also a bunch of other restrictions. No standing for prolong periods of time, no squatting, and more. My command has taken my strip and keep threatening to kick me out before my MEB starts. SO thats why the question. thanks for the help guys in advance! Thanks for the site. I got so much info i could have got on my own.
I am up for MEB, from sever planar fasciitis. I am waiting for my initial MEB appointment still. My company of course is no help and there making it as difficult as they can make it. I am trying to claim PTSD and get hearing checked. Just need to know the steps to get all this moving been waiting already 6 months at least
I have been in the Air Force Reserves for 18 years. I am in the Security Forces career field and have been on active duty orders for just over 9 years since 9/11. Around 2006 I started having issues with my right knee. Buckling, aching, and popping. Dec 2010, finally got it looked at by Air Force doctor at Altus AFB. Performed MRI and found grade II and III Chondromalacia in my right knee. Sent to civilian orthopedist and had knee scope to smooth it out in May 2011. Kept having issues even with physical therapy. Went to another orthopedist in Texas and he perfromed another knee scope to remove plica and fix a small tear in the meniscus also in right knee in Feb 2012. In physical therapy now to strengthen the muscles around knee cap. Doc...
Just a helpful tip; MEB/PEB Assume you are the MEB/PEB adjudicator and you are looking at all the medical evidence and non-medical evidence on a Soldier (you). Bottom line; if you want to avoid headaches ensure the medical documentation tells the honest truth about your condition (leaving no key issues out). Also DONT assume they will be looking at all the medical evidence page by page. From experience I had each doctor (specialists) write out what medical conditions I had (one by one) and how it affected me so a "Rock" could understand it. No freakin grey area. I also had second opinions/multiple tests to elevate any doubt. Last thing; I got a letter from my supervisors spelling out how I performed before and how I am since...
Ref: 30% VA RATING FYI- Just some information for those that are looking for work in the VA or other government jobs. If you are rated 30% or higher they have regional coordinators that will take your resume and attempt to match you up with a federal job you may qualify for. You will have precendance over many other people and you can be directly hired before a job annoucement makes it out.
I applied once for SSDI while on Active Duty in a limited duty status. I was denied based on the fact I worked part time etc. Bottom line it is what it is. However, my last day is June 28, 2012 and I was found unfit and will be medically retired. My question: When should I apply? Should I wait until I am on terminal leave? End result; I am exhausted from the MEB/PEB process and not looking forward to dealing with some oxygen thief in the SS office.
WebMD.com claims that ““The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland in the front of the neck. It produces hormones that manage the rate of your metabolism-the system that helps your body use energy.” The majority of the time, the thyroid does its job and you do not have to stress about it. Sadly, this isn’t always the case. There are several troubles associated with thyroid disease, such as depression, fatigue, and hair loss. At times, it is even mistaken for menopause. According to the Harvard Medical School, “An out-of kilter thyroid gland causes a variety of puzzling symptoms and many people and doctors mistake them for signs of another disease or normal aging. Over 12 million Americans have thyroid disease, many of whom don’t realize...
The bill has been signed into law anyone over15 years of service may elect early retirement. Now not each service has implemented this: My question: What effective date is used? The day the president signed this bill? How would this work with someone that was found unfit by the PEB? They would technically be considered Chapter 61 and have a VA offset. However not under TERA.

OER

What do you write for significant contributions for the support form when PTSD has affected your performance and duties? In other words write a bad OER but one that reflects actual situation. I know that this will affect the PEB. Does anyone have experience on this?? Thank you!!!!
I was told that I got 80% from the VA and 50% from the DoD. Does this mean I get a check from both every month or I have to get one of the two or what? Some people are telling me that I will get both, some are telling me that they will just give me the VA, I have a hundred people telling me different things and my PEBLO is on leave. Somebody please enlighten me about this, thanks.
