Does any one know what this means? SSA says I am medically qualified for SSDI but they are review he non-medical portion.

You can call them at 1-800-772-1213 and ask, the wait time might be a PITA, but any time I've called the employee has been as helpful as possible looking up any information on my file, and giving me any answers I have questions to.

My guess is, the non-medical portion may simply be the points earned and years worked to qualify for SSDI beyond any actual medical issues.

It is making sure you are otherwise qualified for SSA benefits. Its SOP.

so do you think I will probably be approved or is there any real way to know before I hear from SSA?

If you create an account at SSA.gov, you can see your earnings history and potentially be able to get a benefits letter generated from the site that says whether you qualify for SSDI, and what your estimated monthly benefits for could be.

This lets you know the non-medical qualifications:

Yes, if you have enough quarter in social security. The number of quarters for disability payments is based on your age range!

thanks, I will just have to wait an see, im in my mid 50's, my earnings has consistently gone up since I was 11 years old. i recently retired 24 years AGR so i should be good. as i understand it military is somewhat exempt form the SGI requirement since i was still being paid while i was disabled

The max SSA requires is 40 quarters. With 24 years AGR, you should be beyond good.

i got a call this morning, I was approved for SSDI with retro pay for 12 months prior to my application date. thanks for all of the responses. I applied back in Feb 2017, SSA determined that my disability started in 2104 based on medical records. this one my initial application, it got approved in 4 months.

Indeed, congratulations; good deal for sure! :D Take care and enjoy!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer!"

Best Wishes!
