19 years 2 months refered to IDES

Forgot to update this for future reference.

I received my ratings 30% DoD 100% VA TDRL and made it to my 20 year mark thankfully.

I wasn't to happy about some of the exams and processes I went through and had full intention to go to a formal board. Until I spoke with my VA rep and Attorney. With me being at 50% and 100% while I'm on TDRL, and having the retirement under my belt made it pointless considering the possibility of getting something lowered. All of my conditions were deemed service connected aside from hearing loss and I'll have healthcare to try and get better so I opted not to delay retiring.

One rating was deferred (Hypothyroidism) because of new rating criteria so that will probably be added once I do a new C&P for it. I haven't asked about that yet.....which I probably should.

Now I'm just waiting on Orders to start terminal. I signed my findings on Feb 9th and selected a retirement date of April 28th. Since I could only select a day 90 days out I'll be losing some leave as I already sold back my max amount. Whatever, keep it.

Thanks to everyone for the insight throughout this crazy train called IDES. Hopefully this helps someone out there.

Indeed, congratulations on receipt of your IPEB findings to include finally reaching 20 AFS! :D

As such, enjoy both military disability retirement benefits and DoVA disability compensation too! :) Take care!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer!"

Best Wishes!

I'm definitely ready to kick back and enjoy some time off. Thanks

Order popped on message traffic. April 28th 2018 is my final day. Thanks again for everyones help through this process.

TDRL Authorization message for April 28th. Just need to check out today and I'm on Terminal.

Are you PDRL?

Mine came in yesterday. Guess I should've been more clear on that. Once I agreed with the findings I started my retirement package. Only thing I needed was the Auth message to submit my Terminal Chit so I could add in the dates. So it was basically done before I even recieved the authorization message.

The Sep physical isn't required if found unfit so I skipped that.

(7) For service members being separated follow-ing a finding of "unfit for continued Naval service" by the PEB, the procedures outlined in article 15-20(2) through 15-20(6) above do not apply. Instead, an SF 600 entry will be made stating that the service member has been found unfit and is being processed for separation from active duty service.

Yepp! My medical was clueless (I'm in San Diego) about that. I did my own research and found the DoD Instruction stating a disability physical counts as a separation one. And the fact I was found UNFIT for service doesn't make since. How can I be unfit for service and fit for separation? So our PSD let me skip that, as well.

My orders came in yesterday, as well! It's like we're moving at the same pace! I start PTDY and terminal on March 15 with the same retirement date as you.

Good luck out there, brother! Hope all goes well for you in your recovery post-Navy!

You too! I had 60 days on the books so I'm losing a bunch since I already sold back 60. Its all good though. I'm satisfied with the outcome overall.
