******UPDATE FOR ALL THAT IS WAITING********

Spoke to HRC this morning and was informed that they will be sending out documentation to veterans (regarding retirement) sometime week. My docs are in that pile as well. If it is sent out by Friday, we should all get something by next Wednesday or the following Monday, depending on where you paperwork is going. (address on file)

I hope I have eased some minds today. Hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday week. :)
I spoke to Al yesterday. He still had my orders and was just finishing it up. He says he will send it in the mail this week or on Monday. I will let you know when I get it.

I love seeing all these retirements. It's nice for people to finally get what they deserve after all these years. :)

Yes. We are blessed to finally get we are in titled too. Its been a long process but the rough part of waiting for there decision is over with. It's still a waiting game though. I know I will be applying for CRSC. That wait will be a year or more. I'm still looking at 15 plus months left. I will update as I go.

I tell you even with the hard part of waiting for a decision, the waiting is killer to get it all done.
You would think for some of us who dates went back to 2008, we be the ones to get are cases expedited. I feel bad for all the cases that haven't found the soldier who deserved to be retired. Then soldiers really suffering to get help but can't. Family's fall astray. Starving children. Homeless thriving to make a $1.07 for a famous star. I could go on. I believe not leaving no one behind. We all raised are right hand and promise to defend. .
I'm happy we all come here as 1 to help each other with questions and answers.we all need information to help are cases or just to uderstand the different process.im rambling on. Ok

Maybe I give y'all a short story like doctor Seuss.

When I first heard about the PDBR I was shocked with the 70,000 they said were eligible, shocked but not surprised. I still think it’s a shame to have to wait up to another 12 months for another approval process after this one. Keep the faith.

I'm coping this from another post I just made on a different thread. Just food for thought and some things to consider. WE are back in Deers have our ID cards and are waiting on our insurance to update. so far it's going smoothly.

Some things to consider and expect.

1st after you receive your orders...ID cards. that was simple and easy. 2nd pick out insurance plan you want. But be aware...If you choose one with a premium you have to pay it back to your discharge/retirement date. the same with Survivor benefits. so really think about this.

Also, if you live close to a base/post/station...DO NOT ask them about your DFAS paperwork....When my husband was at retirement services they tried to take his papers and tell him they would mail them, DFAS on post tried to have him mail them to a different address.. Clearly everyone is a helper now. lol just follow instructions from Mr. Al (Army) it will only cost you a longer wait if you deviate from the plan...We did find out you do not have to pay back the V.A. just your severance to whatever branch you left. DFAS said it can take any where from 30 days to 6 months. Not sure if they have a section just for these cases or what.

retirement ceremony. fort Leonard Wood was not very helpful AT ALL..... We've decided to just have a big BBQ. His flag and certificate is being mailed from HRC.

That is all the info I have at this time.

Awesome info. Did you do the Insurance plan online or at the DEERS office? Also sounds like you went through LW for the retirement processing. I'm just curious since I have to fly to another island if I have to go through a military base, kind of costly to fly interisland with three people. I'm still waiting on my packet from HRC. I'm' trying to plan how logistically I'm gonna have to do the processing. I have figured out that the National guard service center in Hilo can do DEERs and ID cards, but Schoffield Barracks is the closest military facility. Its a shame about the Retirement Ceremony, But congratulations to you and your family.

UPDATE——
Just spoke to DFAS, was told they just received my orders July 6, can take up to 30 days to process(for me to know any monies) will keep everyone updated on the process.

You should be able to find a place on the island you live on to do ID cards. https://www.ikn.army.mil/apps/IKNWMS/Home/WebSite/DEERSIDCards you should be able to find an office here. We are doing everything online for our insurance.

tinker, I want to clarify something with you. The reason I filed for PDBR is because of the heath insurance. I was discharged in 2002, so I am one that is at the front end of eligibility. You said that you have to "catch up" the health insurance premiums if you choose a plan that has a monthly payment. Is that correct? That is going to be expensive to catch up 18 years of premiums. What was the other option without a payment? The last I read, is that Tricare has 2 programs, but if you don't live near a military installation you only have one choice. If I have to catch up premiums, I couldn't afford it. I'm not going to get any back pay to offset this cost. I only had 2 years 9 months of active service, so my military retirement (if approved) will be way below my VA compensation. CSRC won't pay anything either.

yes @ my husband's retirement brief, he was told that if we elect survivor benefits we had to have the last 136 months paid out of his back pay. The same depending on the premiums of the Tricare @ around $575 a year for the last 11 1/2 years. so yes it really adds up. We are around 17 grand in survivor benefits and about 7 grand for one of the policies for tricare. We've decided to take the free insurance since I have BC/BS federal plan and we both have V.A. benefits. It will just be a supplemental

Wow, lucky for me I don't live in a Tricare Prime service area, so I have to select the "free" Tricare Select plan. I guess I won't have the option of survivor benefits, there isn't any way for me to pay it.

Personally the one thing we are NOT sure of or two things. Is how do they calculate the back pay? Do we forfeit his VA disability check? He is @ almost 100% now. the 2 things he got his medical retirement on are 10% and 20%. How does all this work?

If VA is higher, then he won't receive anything from the military retirement. If he qualifies for concurrent receipt, or CRSC, he may receive something from those programs. If his DOD retirement is more than his VA, he will receive the difference. I won't receive anything. When I was still on TDRL, I got $485.00 per month. That is way below my VA.
