Protect My License

I will be having a FPEB soon to fight a finding of FIT. I am looking to be found UNFIT. My conditions prevent me from doing my job and performing the responsibilities and duties of my rank. I have my dental hygiene license and wanted to know can the FPEB do anything to take that away from me?

No. The PEB is personnel action.

No, but you haven't provided any details on WHY they found you fit so we can't help you yet.

I was found fit because in my Non Medical Assessment there was a statement saying that I am capable of doing my job and the reason that I am not in patient care is because of my medical appointments.

The first honest question you have to ask yourself Is how PTSD prevents you from doing your job and fulfilling your contractual service obligation but it would not affect your job as a dental hygienist? Your license should be the last concern in a forum like this (my opinion).

I just want to give you one piece of advice: Don’t try to bullshit the system! The board can sense whether or not you are genuine. Your records speak for themselves. Getting your possible responses in order is a good idea, but don’t over-do it to the point where you are dramatically regurgitating some bull shit you memorized that is not consistent with your medical or performance records.

Thank you Sir.
You are welcome. Some licensing board required certain things to be self reported. But I doubt that a PEB action is on the list of your licensing board's requirement.

When you have a family to take care of as well, you have to consider all possible outcomes of a situation like this. I appreciate your advice but I am surely not trying to bullshit the system. My records do speak for themselves and all my conditions are very well documented. My conditions are very much so real and affect me from doing my job and performing in my rank. I thank you for your time.

We are here to help one another, nothing more. There are many things required of military members that are not required of people in equivalent civilian jobs like carrying a litter while wearing body armour in MOPP4. @angellove180 asked a legit question.

Two questions:

1.

Nobody is trying not to help anyone. Be honest to the board. That’s great advice!
Think twice about leaving the military because the civilian world is not much better. Also great advice!

I was also boarded for MH reasons and was terrified they would report me to the Board of Nursing. I worked very hard for my license and did not want to lose it. I was given 70% PDRL from the DOD for MDD and anxiety. I did not work with patients during my board because of my diagnosis and mental state. I thought after I got out I would be able to work because i would no longer have the stress related to the military. However that has not been the case. My anxiety has made it very difficult to work. I am unable to work full time. I work just a few days a month. Thankfully I have a very understanding employer who works with me. I want to work and feel it does help me from being isolated. Don't worry too much about your license, concentrate on getting through the process and your treatment plan. I know its hard when you have a family to consider. Good luck.

Thank you so much for sharing. Do you still have your license? I hope things get better for you. I appreciate your advice. Thank you.

You are welcome. I realize that being in the military is NOT the same as doing the same job in the civilian sector. The MEB/PEB process is often accompanied by anxiety about one's future and the future of their family. Preserving the ability to work, when health allows, is reasonable and prudent. Best wishes.
