Hello, I'm currently in the WTU here at Fort Carson. I'll start off with my timeline so far and then move on to details about the WTU and other programs to help future Soldiers assigned to one. Fort Carson, from what I understand from what the MEB Doctor said, is the fastest base for processing Soldiers through the entire process. They seem competent and not rushed, so I guess it's a good thing. It's far different than it was just a few years ago due to VA ratings becoming much faster.

WTU- You in process in the Headquarters Company for 30 days. It's a regular but shortened inprocessing. You will go through a lot of appointments. This is the optimal time to GO SEE the specialists you need to get your issues checked out. If you do this, your VA claims process will be much more smooth. If you don't have a paper trail for your conditions, expect very little or no compensation. You will move to one of the companies, at Carson there's just the Alpha Co. Your primary and only duty is to attend Adaptive Reconditioning in the morning and then go to appointments.
IDES- Your PEBLO and VA MSC are your best friends. A competent PEBLO can make your entire process much easier. If the VA sends you something, don't be afraid to ask the VA MSC about it. They asked for my entrance examination. I told the MSC I didn't have it. She let them know. It saved probably 20 days that they would have waited if not for the MSC. Make sure to take your NARSUM, 199, etc all to legal. No one can force you, but take it to them even if you get 100% VA/ 100% DOD. Rather safe than sorry of course.
