I have A question about being injured in the line of duty and being medboarded after surgery. I had A MK19 round blow up in my hand taking off my middle finger and shattering my index finger. Shrapnel went into my wrist and messed up all the nerves all the way to my elbow. I can Only use the ring and pinky finger on my hand. I am Trying to figure out a percentage so when I get out I kinda Have an idea. I have A family so very terrified of the unknown. Thank you

So basically I wont Get anything really for losing my middle finger! Man that really hurts
For amputations, at some point, most vets will go through depression and file that as a secondary to the physical disability especially since this is going to have a big impact on your ability to find work when you become a civilian. If you are down in the dumps about the incident seek treatment now rather than later.

Yes I am Currently dealing with depression anxiety and ptsd I am seeing treatment for all. It took me a while so they said it’s bad because I guess After 15 days it gets worse and I didnt Seek help until 5 months later.

Since i have nerve damage from my hand to my elbow on my dominant side does that increase my percentage or do they not really care about nerve damage?

Sorry I’m very new at this a friend of mine told me about this forum and said to ask.

Thank you everyone for the responses very helpful

Yes your nerve damage should be rated. But without exam info, I would not venture to guess what rating that will receive. Both should be considered unfitting, if that doesn't happen consult legal counsel and consider asking for a FPEB.

Okay thank you! I would Assume once they take the shrapnel out of my wrist they will do an MRI but I’m not a dr so who knows.

Sorry didn’t ask you before but what does FPEB mean?

Formal Physical Evaluation Board.

Probably an x-ray first. Then perhaps other imagining.

@Kory cortez,

BTW, welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer!"

Best Wishes!

It's not the CPAP in itself that necessitates the 50% rating criteria, but rather the symptoms for what it is prescribed.

Thank you!
Indeed, you are welcome; no worries! Take care!
