I see another member had gone through something I was asking about.

Why when I asked if your VA rating can decrease/increase after an IDES evaluation, I was told that it had nothing to do with VA ratings and can not change anything.

Well I see another member had theirs changed after one with the link I posted above inside his post.

Seems to be inconsistent information given to members.

I am sorry to learn you received information that apparently was in error.

Some thoughts about Internet forums on which I have posted for 10+ years:
--No one is vetted or selected (unless they are a moderator and moderators might have a single area of expertise). You might receive suggestions from someone who has zero experience with the subject, or a subject matter expert, or from someone with knowledge that falls between those two examples.
--No one is paid to answer questions on a forum; they are merely trying to be help other veterans.
--Even Veterans Service Officers with an organization such as the VFW are not perfect.
--I am surprised that you are surprised you received a bad answer. I believe most of the info provided on this site is accurate, but there is always the chance someone might have misunderstood certain policies, laws, regulations or other instruments than can affect our lives.
--You might consider researching matters yourself; that is what I do in most cases. One can find any regulation or law on the Internet by using their favorite search engine.

Yes, anytime humans are involved, there is a chance for error.

Example: About 1.5 years ago while helping a USCG retiree on another site, I found that the Coast Guard had been computing CRSC for CH 61 retirees incorrectly since 2013. I gave the Coastie the background info and later he provided a copy of the CG letter which acknowledged the error and stated they were auditing all their CH 61 CRSC computations retro to 2013.

The problem was associated with the old “CRSC Glitch” of which Mike Parker of this site frequently discussed.

I suppose that one way to filter info is to look for people who have numerous posts on a particular subject and whose history suggests a certain expertise. Additionally, if moderators or other members happen to see incorrect info, likely it will be corrected

Frankly, I would be reluctant to make important decisions based solely on the comments of strangers. I think one of the most important aspects of a forum such as this one is the compilation of different views and ideas. Often, a path to a law or regulation is found.

I belong to a couple of other boards that discuss cancer and heart disease. I have found them to be valuable, but I don’t make decisions based solely on the comments I read at either of them. My physicians and medical facts I have read elsewhere have more influence.

I applaud this site/ moderators/ contributors for the effort they provide. But.... you must exercise due diligence. Unfortunately, this is not a one stop shop to answer all of your questions/ concerns. This site along with (CFR's/ DodI's/ service specific regulations/ PEBLO/ VA MSC) can help give a much better than answer/ understanding of IDES process than relying on sole source information or information from (E4 mafia/ barracks lawyers). Without this site, I'd be sifting through mind numbing regulations but now I can use this site to ask about a regulation I've researched/ about a meeting I had/ about an exam/ or.... and see how other IDES experiences have differed from my experience.
