Congratulations guys and trust me you guys will have atleast another year or two with paper work to get things in order. I just got my approval letter for crsc and still waiting to find out about the pay

I hate DFAS i have been on the phone for 57 minutes and 33 seconds. Been transferred 3 times just to make sure that they received my DD 2656 and to see if they had received a copy of the repayment letter from the VA. They are getting as bad as the IRS.

Wanted to post a quick update. Received DFAS retirement pay statements on Monday. Also received backpay deposited on Monday and Tuesday. I have had no contact (phone/USPS/email) with DFAS to explain how the backpay was calculated. Called today and the tier 2 tech could not help me. I guess eventually I will receive as statement explaining how the backpay was calculated?

Hey Perci,
When you have a minute Look up Tincker’s poc’s and let dfas leadership know about the lack of communication.

Yeah. Im going to give it one more week and call the person Tinker was in contact with. My backpay deposits are pretty close to the totals I figured, just want to look at their numbers for peace of mind.

Question for people in this thread who have received backpay from DFAS:

Just received my statements from DFAS regarding the backpay I received this week. They withheld way to much "VA Waiver" money. I have never received anything close to this amount from the VA.

It looks like they with held my severance pay again? Is this typical? Is DFAS waiting on more details from the VA so this can be paid back?

I received my retirement and statement for my retirement pay for December, but not any backpay or information on if I am. How did you obtain information on your back pay?

I received backpay on Monday and Tuesday this week. Monday I received two DFAS statements. The second statement basically was by December retirement statement correcting the first statement. Thursday and Friday I received two more statements in regards to my backpay received earlier in the week. The Gross Pay (backpay) was correct to my calculations. The VA Waiver withholding is more then double what I have received from VA over the last 14.5 years. There is also a Retired Pay Offset they withheld for almost $9,000, which I have no idea what its for.

I can only assume DFAS withheld my severance pay, which has basically been paid back over the last 14.5 years and they are waiting on VA confirmation?

I have had basically no luck getting in contact with anyone at DFAS this week who can explain any of this.

I just got an email from the PDBR stating this:
We have updated your new address. Your case has met the board and is awaiting Service review. Cases are currently taking 24 months.

Respectfully,

Received letter that my case was adjudicated and sent to PDBR from review August 2017
Email Stating: Once reviewed by the PDBR Director your case will be sent to the Service for final approval/disapproval. This phase can take 45 days. Mar 2017
Email Stating: . Your case has met the board and is awaiting Service review. Cases are currently taking 24 months. April 2017

Does anyone knows what happens next? Anything will be appreciated.

Thank you!!
:)
What paperwork did you submit when you applied for the review board?

Hello everyone, I am new to this site. I see a lot of good information here and find it very useful in determining the process and what to expect it.

So, I'll begin by asking for advice. I recently sent the DD Form 294 back to the PDBR, in November 2018. I know its early but I didn't think this was real so I was really late in sending it back. After looking at it again and doing some research I decided to seek more information into the legitimacy of this. You guys have given me so hope. Is there anything anyone can offer as to this process.

I have not heard anything from the PDBR even saying that my application was received.

Give me some confidence please.

There are many posts in this thread (17 tabs) that discuss the PDBR process and experiences pertaining to timelines. Recommend they be reviewed.

DoD has designated the Air Force as lead component for implementing the PDBR process. As such, the AF has overall responsibility for case tracking and reporting, although the actual case evaluation and adjudication is done in a joint adjudication unit with all services (and components) represented. The Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness retains overall responsibility for program policy.

The Physical Disability Board of Review, or PDBR, was legislated by Congress and implemented by the Department of Defense (DoD) to ensure the accuracy and fairness of combined disability ratings of 20% or less assigned to service members who were discharged between September 11, 2001 and December 31, 2009.

  • The PDBR uses medical information provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs and the military department.
  • Once a review is complete, the PDBR forwards a recommendation to the secretary of the respective branch of the armed services.
  • It is up to the individual service branch to make the final determination on whether to change the original disability determination.

First of all, I’m blessed to have received my orders this evening. That said, in getting my ID, do I have to go to an Army RSO, or can I take my orders to the Fort Worth JRB? If so, would they be able to assist with DEERS enrollment?

Congrats! It’s a good feeling isn’t it! You can go anywhere that is a RAPIDS center for your ID. RAPIDS Site Locator.
Take everything you got in your packet as most of it may not be in the system yet. This link will take you where you need to go to find an ID center near you.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum! I just got my letter from the Navy approving retirement Friday, and it is surreal. I don't know whether to laugh cry or scream with joy. It's still all so fresh. I know I have a while to go before I have orders and an ID card, but that wait is well worth it. Take time to enjoy this moment and celebrate it.

Just got 2 emails from the VA informing me about benefits that I may be eligible for. I have been out for a while and I am already enrolled in VA programs. What caught my eye was the email said "you are in the process of separating from the military and have received a DOD disability rating". I am hoping that my PDBR is coming to an end and the Army has made a decision.

"We understand that you are in the process of separating from the military and have received a DOD disability rating. You may therefore be eligible to apply to the Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment (VR&E) VetSuccess Program."

Anyone else get something like this before their claim was completed?

I also just received the same emails and have been out since 2007. I received an email in July saying my application was transferred to PDBR for adjudication. Did you receive that email also?

Last email said "Our recommendation has been forwarded to the Army for final determination." sent on October 4, 2019.
