I have a question I hope someone can answer. If you get a positive out come From the FPEB and you sign and agree with it what happiness after that? Can it be further reviewed and changed? I ask this because I had a 70% Permanent Retirement signed and concurred with it. Then had it over turned at a higher level that agreed with the IFPEP initial findings. Can this be done or was I screwed over.

Ok so a little back ground I was discharged in April 2007 I recently sent in my paper work to the BCMR to see if I can fix this. My final rating was medical discharge EPTS I had 4.5 years in the USAF as a Aircraft Weapons loader. Disability was a hereditary disease that my doc Said was and could have been aggravated by environmental factors. The AF said it took its natural course. The initial PEB said incurred in service but refer to IPEB they said EPTS discharged. I put in a disagreement and was sent to FPEB and Dr and PEBLO put up a case that although it is hereditary it is not the same as having the disease until it comes out. Environmental factors are a strong possibility of the expression of the disease. The FPEB concurred and issued a statement of having predisposition is not the same as having a disease. Award 70% Permanent Retirement. Signed my form and a month later it was overturned by SAFPC direction of the SECAF to be discharged immediately EPTS and they concluded they concurred with the IFPEB that it took its natural course although the dr said that there was environmental factors the body of evidence did not exist that it did. Fast fwd a bit and The VA awards 20% same Disease incurred in service and agreed with the PEB happened in line of duty. Secondary conditions of depression and anxiety as well. Can we say I was screwed. Yes I know I didn’t make the 8 year mark but what I did t understand is why did I get further reviewed over turned and then VA says SC on same disease that is hereditary. Appreciate any insight the disease is one that effects my central vision and kills the cells in the optic nerve. Researched and found that JP8 and other hydrocarbons are a bad thing for a person who carries this mutation and it’s scholarly reviewed by Drs of Ophthalmology and VA concurs if it’s toxicity. There’s your body of evidence. Sorry for the rant guys been building for many years never had the courage to put it out there. Any advice ?
Thanks guys question though I sent in my paper work for the AFBCMR to contest it on injustice. Even though I have sent it in my dd 194 is it possible to still obtain a lawyer before it’s been seen? I doubt they even have looked at it since how long they take to process it.
I honestly don't know if it is too late, but I doubt it. Either way, it is definitely at least worth calling Jason to get his opinion. I would be speaking completely out of place to tell you anything beyond that because the last thing I would want to do is lead you in the wrong direction. I promise you that it will be worth the time investment to call him.

I totally get it man. I am an 18 year prior enlisted guy and I have thought numerous times through the IDES process about how crappy this would have been as a SrA or A1C. Everyone thinks you're a shit bag, no one wants to help the guy that is leaving, and to top it off, you don't have enough experience to know where to look to help fight for yourself.
I was fortunate that I knew the AFI and the DODI so I was able to fight back against some shenanigans at my wing level. It sucks that this is the way it is for some people.

Man you hit the nail on the head I never heard someone put it that way but it is exactly how it is done to us when we are young SrA like you said it’s a blindside when we are clueless we just follow orders thinking they know what’s best for us and how quickly they rush to put you out and make it the VAs problem.
That is why this forum is so critical to those going thru any medical military issues. A plethora of info for everyone.
