Can a phase 2 physical trigger a medboard?

I am facing getting chaptered, but I have been diagnosed with a cam deformity in my femur and PTSD. I'm close to being medboarded but I'm concerned the chapter proceeding will start before that process starts.
So I wanted to know, can a phase 1 and 2 physical and the behavioral health appointment you have to go through trigger the start of a medboard or do I have to convince one of my doctors to initiate it? They want to chapter me because I have been unable to do my job due to these conditions but my commander is unwilling to recommend me for one.
Any advice and insight appreciated.

Any provider could theoretically initiate a MEB. When solders ask for an MEB they are sometimes labeled as malingering. My advice is to talk about limitations, social and occupational challenges and let the MEB the providers idea.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I intend to just list all my problems and how it is affecting my ability to serve, and social challenges. I figured that asking for a MEB usually backfires even if my conditions legitimately hinder my career. Thanks.

Have you asked the VA for Benefits Delivery at Discharge? This will document your conditions at the time of discharge. Documentation that illnesses/injuries existed while AD will help appeal to the BCMR that your discharge was erroneous.
