My Air Force IDES Timeline...

Your DOD rating can be higher because they’re more likely to consider the condition unfitting. Since the DOD rates only the conditions that make you unfit for duty your DOD rating could be higher depending on what the VA rates you for each condition.
So does the DOD only take in to account the exam you go do, or do they take in account medical records from while youre in.

So say someone has a condition like anxiety, depression etc. if your job is something that has zero tolerance for said condition. You’re basically sayin the VA rating will be higher

The VA considers your C&P exams and medical records. If they would have strictly gone by my C&P exam for mental health, I would have only received a 50% rating instead of 70%.

Yeah I was told by my PEBLO the DOD (PEB) would only evaluate my referred condition. I was surprised and then after doing research, the DOD usually only rates you for conditions that make you unfit for duty. Which means if I have more than one unfit condition (which I probably will) the DOD will rate me for all of those conditions. The VA rates you based on all your claimed conditions that are proven service connected, those that have worsened in the service, or began during service. The VA rates the condition on the severity of said condition. Your claim is sent to the VA first, the VA will decide what conditions are “fit” & “unfit”

All of this is so confusing to navigate lol. Right now Im waiting for the rest of my exams to get uploaded to TOL. Finished all my appts. I feel like this will be the longest part.

Waiting for my exams to get uploaded to TOL and be released to my PEBLO was the longest part of IDES so far. Once I saw all my exams on TOL, it took almost a month before the PEBLO received them. Then the MEB was finalized and package was sent to IPEB after I signed my AF Form 618.

Exactly. The DoD only cares about the medical conditions that are making you unfit for continued service. Conditions that affect your ability to do your job, deploy, etc. I didn't get referred for MEB until I told my medical provider that my mental health was affecting my ability to do my job.
However, sometimes people can have medical conditions that are unfitting for continued service, but it doesn't affect their ability to do their job and deploy. They still end up being medically retired or discharged.

My timeline has been close to the same. I finished my final C&P exams June 8th. I talked with the VA today they said they have all of the required documentation and that it was in the que to be rated. No telling how long it will take. I've heard a few weeks up to a few months, I'm AD USAF.
Im in the same boat. I've been calling everyday. QTC is horrible. I completed my exams around the same time you did and they have been sitting on it, claiming they were waiting on another exam. However there was no exam. Was told it was fixed three weeks ago, however, called again today and they said they were still waiting on that exam. Keep tabs on them bro, their system is flawed.

That’s super frustrating. Keep your head up you should hear something soon. It’s honestly hard to gauge an accurate timeline on this forum. You can get rough estimates of when things can get done but I feel like things will happen such as what you said. Super annoying

Yeah for sure, I wish I could just wait this process out while back at home instead of being stuck waiting. Its the worse part.

Yea man I feel that more than anything. Just enjoy what you got left because we all dont have that much longer.

UPDATE:
20 Aug 2021: Received proposed ratings: DoD 70% TDRL and VA 90%. Not happy about TDRL. I have almost 22 years of service. I will be fighting with the VA regarding 2 of my claimed conditions where they overlooked medical evidence. It should push me to 100%.
UPDATE:
- 23 Aug 2021: Accepted IPEB results, and signed AF Form 1180 and Legal Representation Form. PEBLO sent documentation to AFPC. Awaiting disability retirement orders.
- 7 Sep 2021: Received TDRL Orders. Retirement date 10 Dec 2021. Completed DD Form 214 worksheet on vMPF. Awaiting out-processing checklist to populate in vMPF. PTDY/terminal leave start date TBD.

I was just placed on TDRL today have 6 days to appeal to the Board but I have 9 mths till I hit my 20 year mark (6 mths if you add in leave and perm LV) I’m not sure if I should fight it. Do you get a pension while on TDL or just a one time severance pay?

Based on my experience and research, being placed on TDRL for a mental health condition is very common. See this DFAS link for details on TDRL: Defense Finance and Accounting Service > RetiredMilitary > disability > disability
