What exactly is an IDRM?

I got injured during active duty orders in the National Guard. I got seen by the doctors and got all my paperwork showing service relation-- although no LOD ever got issued. Next thing you know I had a permeant profile condition and got a phone call regarding getting medically discharged out. I tried to fight for an LOD, but that proved to be very difficult. I got issued an IDRM, but I don't necessary know if that's a good things.

Integrated Disability Referral Memorandum (IDRM) will be forwarded for a Medical Retention
Determination Point (MRDP) counseling with the MRDP Program Manager (PM) upon
completion of the Chapter 3 Retention Evaluation.

BTW, talk to service counsel. It is free and you are going to need documentation that you were hurt on AD.

So basically I am now being retained, instead of discharged? Would this IDRM act as an LOD?

It is not a LOD. I'm not a lawyer, but it appears to be an evaluation of your fitness for duty. Perhaps one of the people with NG experience will chime in.

@Guardguy11

I can't help but just shake my head at the National Guard when I read this stuff. You are owed a LOD and it is the job of your assigned medical squadron to initiate it per DODI. Are you Army NG or Air NG?

@Provis , can you give Ethan the Army regs to hopefully fight this?

Yep. Its a way into IDES without a LOD. Its better than nothing but you don't get the same rights and benefits. See this link and go to page4 with the sub title: i. RC Integrated DES Referral Memorandum (IDRM).

@Ethanwill
Definitely going to take a squint at this later and see if I can get some further info from friends of mine who are still PEBLO's. I'll let you know what I find out!

Ok, I squinted (killing time at work) - do you have any further info pertaining the rights afforded an individual when they get an IDRM? I'm not seeing how it's any different than when having an actual 2173 when getting referred into IDES. The key thing I'm reading is that a) documentation of a condition occurred while in a duty status of more than 30 days and b) is reason for a permanent profile of at least one condition of 3 or 4, beyond that, there's nothing different in the IDES processing from what I can discern.

You are correct no changes in rights or benefits for IDES. I was referring to LOD rights/benefits "The memorandum will not confer benefits and entitlements associated with LOD determinations for RC Soldiers as noted in reference"

What rights/benefits do you have from an LOD?
