Dependents Education Assistance Program for spouse/children

Are the DEA benefits separate than GI bill? I transferred my GI bill to my wife but now i'm rated 100% and read about the DEA but confused about it. So my wife and if I have a child will get 36 months of benefits besides the GI bill?

    Caregiver claim

When should I apply for caregiver claim for my wife? I am 100% VA and disability retire on May 19. Was wanting to apply for caregiver since she has to do a lot of stuff for me that I can't do anymore. Should I wait till I retire or apply now?

Does VA normally take this long?

My IDES is done, I got accepted for LAS and got my disability retirement orders for May 19. Ebenefits don't say much and I tried to call VA to see if I was actually rated permanent and total and they said they can't tell yet because it's not fully done and they have been backed up.

Does VA normally take this long?

I understand it won't start until I retire but you still would be rated correct? And VA said it wasn't fully done yet so then what happens if they aren't fully done by the time I retire?

Does VA normally take this long?

I started my claim in September 2018 cause of med board. I got my rating around june or july this year for 100% VA. I called them to get cert of ratings and they said it isn't done yet. Now i'm getting worried cause this is holding up many things. I'm buying a house so holding up the VA funding...

    Rating % curiosity

I know if you have more than 91% rating you will be rated 100%. For anybody that knows the formula they use I am curious as to what I would be rated over 100% if they did that. Mainly curious to see if they did remove a couple if that would affect my end result. Here are my ratings. 50, 40, 30...

    MEB finally done

I mean I have read about recovery of benefits and all kinds of weird calculations. The way I understand it is since I am over 30% Dod, made my 20 years i'll get my VA taxable and get my 50% base pay taxable together. Just want to make sure that's right.

    MEB finally done

Well overall process took 1 yr and 8 months but finally got my LAS approved. Got my retirement orders today for PRDL. Ok just to clarify my 20 years is May 10, 2020 and I am retiring on may 19, 2020 cause that's when my DOS is. I am rated 50% DoD and 100% so i'll get my 50% pension non taxable...

    Treatment after retirment date?

Just couple days I think. The new AFI that came out in june or july this year states that the SAF will usually get the appeal done in 10 days. Wow that's a huge difference from the 7 months it was taking, I was banking on that to stretch my time out but can't now.

    Treatment after retirment date?

I did not know it started the 90 day countdown. WTF if I get my leave and everything approved i'm going to miss retirement by like 4 months and if it is 90 days for retirement date plus terminal and ptdy i'll miss it by 1 month. I planned on trying for a hardship extension based on my father...

    Treatment after retirment date?

I am awaiting SAF appeal. Was rated 50% DoD and 100% VA. Current regular date of retirement should be June 1, 2020. Kind of what I was getting at is say my regular retirement date is June 1, 2020 but I can't make it to 20 years and they say give me a medical retirement date of November 30, 2019...

    Social security and surviving spouse

I guess her insurance guy told here she can't get his SS cause she makes over 17K per year. She isn't on SS, she is still working right now should retire next year. yeah I don't have too much confidence in SS. My dad had to retire couple years early cause he had surgery for brain cancer and they...
