    Sudden Cardiac Arrest / ICD

Received my 199 yesterday; 100 percent for both VA and DoD as expected. Still plan to have a formal hearing and find out exactly why they feel I am not fit for duty. I don't expect them to change their decision as I am sure they don't want to feel they are wrong about anything. Not sure how this...

    Formal Board decision

Joe, very well put. I guess its just hard to accept being unfit for duty when you know you're not and to be forced to leave all your Soldiers behind. There are a lot of good leaders in the Army so no worries. Thanks again.

    Formal Board decision

I was a 15R. I know there isn't a lot of options here but I just want to make sure I try everything before I give up. Not sure what you mean by a formal hearing being a tough way to go. Sounds easy enough to go talk to the folks that just decided I wasn't fit for duty. No worries either way...

    Formal Board decision

It seems my case was rushed through as it isnt that hard to figure out when someone will receive 100% by both DOD and VA. My concern is whether I should request a formal hearing in order to remain in the military. Just not ready to leave yet. My other issue is my son graduates next year and if...

    Air Force PEB Update

Thanks for the info bobby; jason, talked to my attorney and he informed me to just do a formal board in person and to be careful reading anything on these forums. Not sure what his issue is with getting as much info as I can before my board. Still, any information is appreciated.

    Air Force PEB Update

Did your attorneys have to submit the memorandum or were you able to contact the PEB directly. I would prefer to have my case settled without having to fly to Fort Lewis just to get the same outcome.

    Sudden Cardiac Arrest / ICD

I too had just finished running and was told I just collapsed; dont remember anything prior to waking up in Landstuhl. I have been unable to get the genetic testing approved here at Bliss. Good to see someone got it approved. I also feel very tired at times but I think it is mainly due to not...

    Sudden Cardiac Arrest / ICD

IronCity, I'm glad to see they are not just finding everyone not fit for duty at the FPEB. I'm 39, in the Army, been for 21 years and have just recently been promoted to CSM. Would like to retire when I no longer enjoy my job, however; this whole MEB process is not that enjoyable. I still go to...

    Sudden Cardiac Arrest / ICD

Herlobster, i will be attending my formal PEB soon as well for the same thing. Only difference is I am trying to stay in. Would like to know how you were able to be found fit for duty. I do not have any of the restrictions you mentioned having and just would like to be able to change their mind...

    Congressional Inquiry now or later?

Not something these folks deal with everyday but I was found unfit for duty and I am trying to reverse that decision rather than just medically retire. I am looking into starting a congressional inquiry for being found unfit for duty due to the IPEB not taking into account any of the evidence I...

Jason Please Help! I will be headed to the FPEB soon

rdrobin, Thanks for your input. The letters were all included in the first packet sent to the PEB. It seems they did not take the time to look at anything and just assumed everyone wants to just get out. I will wait on the congressman piece until I go to my FPEB.

Jason Please Help! I will be headed to the FPEB soon

Yes; the Army reg that all the folks here love to recite states an AICD implant does not meet retention standards. However; the MOD 11 states a servicemember can deploy with one. Seems the Army regs are not caught up with Centcom Medical standards regulations. I know many folks who have had...

Jason Please Help! I will be headed to the FPEB soon

Jason, I was recently found unfit for duty and am awaiting percentages from VA due to having an AICD implanted after having a sudden cardiac death in Afghanistan. I am over 21 years and will receive 100 percent disability, per the DOD and VA regs. (we will see how that goes). The issue is I...
