Potential AGR Continuation Packet Denial while currently have a Profile

In order to give advice, it’s critical to know what branch are you AGR for? Army Reserves or Army National Guard and what State of Army National guard.

    Army AGR Med Board

Yes, as long as you have VA service connected disabilities that add up to 50% or more. Any percentage between 0 and 49.99%, you have to choose between the VA or the Army retirement. Any number of 50% or more, you qualify for CRDP, which allows you to receive BOTH the VA and the Army Retirement...

Is it worth hanging on for 3 more years

Technically yes you have 3 years left, but another way to look at it is that you have about 2 1/2 years left…. You will be on your terminal leave the last 3-4 months (depending on how much leave you have and the leave policy at the time) plus you get an additional up to 20 days for job and...

    Caregiver Program

I would highly recommend that you join the Facebook group called “Veteran Warriors”. They are intimately involved with the PCAFC. The PCAFC as a program as a whole is currently under a lot of turmoil and change. You can PM with any questions about the program...

TDRL to PDRL results, need advice

BLUF: DOD has recommended 70% PDRL for PTSD. I was medically retired from the AGR program with 19.5 Active duty years and 21 years total. I missed Active Duty retirement by 6 months, but at least I will get the Army National Guard retirement when I turn 60 and CRDP. However, TDRL only looked...

    DOD-VA offset pay question

By federal law, DOD can only pay a max of 75% of base pay, even though you are 100% disabled based on IDES. Just wanted to make sure you were tracking that info…I am not sure if the $5,000 is 100% base pay or at $75%.

If you are DOD TDRL/PDRL retired with less than 20 years of service please read.

With inflation, the feds raising interest rates, trillions of dollars already spent in the last 2 years and the hyper political tension that has gripped Washington for years now, I don’t believe Congress has any appetite for this to pass anytime in the near or even mid long term future. This...

Am i eligible for full retirement if i med board out at 19yrs AD (AGR); 23 years total?

There is no sanctuary for medical. Many soldiers have been medically retired or medically separated between 18 years and 19 years, 11 months and 29 days. No, sanctuary does not apply to medical boards.

    PLD and retirement

Out of all the Services, I do believe the USMC is the only one that is still using TERA. I have read several Marines on this forum that have over 18 years and used TERA. I would encourage you to also look into that.

Need a second opinion or guidance on taking FPEB or getting out

You are never guaranteed that the VA 100% will be forever….stranger things have happened…I personally like to have a safety net…which your military retirement would be the safety net in case at some point in the future the VA lowers your 100% to something much less. In that situation, your...

Your best bet is to call your local VSO and or use Google. I used Google just now and found the attached PDF, which has multiple phone numbers to call to get your specific questions and concerns answered.

100% P&T but filing additional claims bad idea?

I would NOT poke the bear and just walk away and be happy that you have 100% P&T. I would however, keep all documents and the VSO reasoning in a binder or file, just in case for whatever reasons, your current 100% rating is ever lowered, then you can pull that file and use those justifications...

    Please somebody help me

You must be patient. The IDES/MEB/PEB process is a world of its own and patience is key…the entire process from notification of being placed into IDES, to your last day in the Army can take as little as 6 months and as long as 2 years or more. Especially with Covid, things are way backed up and...

Promotion for combat disability medical retirement

I don’t remember exactly but the concept was that a soon to be SGM would not get promoted on the last day of medical retirement if that soldier was not already in a SGM billet. I realize vague memory from me doesn’t help one bit, but I figured I would at least try to help.

Promotion for combat disability medical retirement

I do remember reading another post a few months back about with a 1SG very similar as your situation. That 1SG was not promoted due to recent regulation changes. I also read the ALARACT or memo or whatever it was around the same time frame that explained the changes. Also Army Times had a write...

    Resignation of AGR during MEB

Not sure what service your in. But if your in the Army, the AGR regulation is NGR 600-5. However, I don’t believe it covers exactly what your looking for. AR 635-40 and DA PAM 635-40 will cover it. Also look at DODI 1332.38. it’s been awhile since I was medically retired thru IDES as an AGR...
