I am about to be given an exam for the MEB. My PCM is going to be doing it from my understanding because I am in Hawaii and there are no Navy Specialist for RA here. My PCM is a NP and didn't believe me at first that something was wrong with me until I pushed the issue and she agreed to order some tests. Now that she has seen all the meds I am on and that I have only gotten worse she is being really sweet and trying to help me (I think). What can I expect from this exam? She really hurt me last time she was checking my hands. My Army specialist doesn't think I should be given an MEB nor does my flight doctor. I on then other hand totally understand why my PCM is starting this and I know I haven't been completly upfront with how much pain I am in. I have a pretty high pain tolerance and with 2 little kids have no choice but to force myself to push through and get things done. I am not sure how thigs are going to go for me but I wouldn't be surprised if I am found unfit due to the meds and my limited ability to PT (as in can't right now). Thanks for any info you have.

You won't always be able to push through it so express yourself when it comes to your medical problems. Why do you say unfit for meds? I'm not aware of any medication that makes you unfit, and no PT ability would indicate a profile either temp or permanent. You don't need to do PT to remain in the service, just maintain you body fat IAW the regs. Do you have a preference on remaining in or retiring/ separating? Once you make that choice you should go full scale in the direction you choose. Best of luck to you. Here are some great regs I read to get a better understanding on the process, disregard they are army regs... Check the VSARD for your conditions and ratings to get a better idea on where you lie. 30% DOD rating or better gets you retirement and less than 30% DOD rating is equal to separation pay (1/2 your base pay times your years of service).

Separation pay is 2 times years of service times base pay (minimum 3 yrs/max 19 yrs).

Oops, thank for fixing that one Jason, I knew it was 2 times, not sure why I wrote 1/2. Sorry.

My doc said my condition requires medication that messes with my immune system and requires MEB. Also I have been given the impression that the Navy no longer offers permenant profiles for PT
