admin discharge vs meb/peb

i have a question... my doctor told me he could meb board me due to my knee if i wanted to. so far i am sucking it up after having surgury last year and deploying... but lately my knee has been hurting more then usual.... currently am flagged for over weight but have been addressing this issue and losing the weight...... what is the difference with meb and admin discharge (chapter) i would rather stay in the army but am looking at all options

My understanding is that if you are medically retired with a 30% or more disability (through the MEB/PEB process), you are entitled to military benefits, including TRICARE. If you are administratively discharged, you are not entitled to military benefits.
