Am I eligible?

I am being Medboarded currently. I just recieved my proposed ratings from DOD and VA.

My unfitting conditions are: Back (40%) and Radiculopathy (20%) so total DOD rating is 60 %.

All other conditions rated by VA is 100%
So I am being medically retired.

My two main questions are.. Is PTSD covered under CRSC? I was rated at 70% by the VA for PTSD.

To be eligible for CRSC does it have to be an unfitting condition by the DOD or as long as I have a rating assigned by VA?

I have all necessary documents to provide to apply for CRSC.
- CAB Orders
- ARCOM with C device
- Sworn statements
- Deployment Orders
- STR of BH visits.

PTSD can be covered by CRSC. Run the numbers to see if you qualify for any CRSC. CRSC is there to recoup money lost due to the VA offset. Total compensation that you can get is taking the total VA compensation and adding that amount to your earned longevity pension. The longer you were in the better the chances that you will benefit from CRSC.

Also, do you have any presumptive CRSC conditions? Things like Asthma, Sinusitis etc are automatically approved if you have a VA rating and can show you were deployed to an eligible country.

You just have to apply with your documents and find out. You probably will get approved though. The only thing that really matters is the condition is rated by the VA and coded as gulf war or due to combat.

40+20 DoD will only be 50%.
40+(.20x 60)=52%, which is rounded to 50%

okay so it does not have to be considered an unfitting condition to be eligible for CRSC? I have been in for 13 years and yes I have sinusitis with a 10% rating

Okay thank you for this information

Not sure if this is how it currently works or not, but when I was first rated for PTSD by the VA in 2015, I was automatically given CRSC due to it being documented that it was from combat deployments; so you may not have to do anything to get CSRC.

How do you know if the VA rated as combat? I do see on my 199 it says "PTSD Combat" but shouldn't there be a code or something?

In your C- file with the VA there is a code sheet that has all your conditions. This code sheet will have combat, gulf war presumptive. Stuff like that. You have to access your c file which can take time.

I didn't know until I started getting payments and there was extra pay and it stated it was because of CRSC.

What is a C file? And where do I find this?

Do a foia request with the VA. Or you can ask a VSO. Your C file is all the documents the VA has in you. The rating sheet inside your C file will list all your conditions and say combat, GW presumptive etc. it will also tell you what conditions are static and what conditions will be up for another exam.

I was told by an individual that was previously part of the Navy’s CRSC board that they pull the code sheet before a package is presented for adjudication. I can’t speak for the other services though.

Make sure that if you have any PACT Act/Gulf War presumptive conditions that are rated by the VA (e.g. Sinusitis, Rhinitis, Bronchitis, IBS, etc...) AND were deployed to one of the qualifying locations, apply for CRSC for those conditions.
These presumptive conditions are *supposed* to be automatically approved for CRSC as Instrumentality of War.
