Update timeline:

7/30/18 Briefed by MSC
8/21/2018 Completed C&P exams
9/12/2018 Received DA Form 3947 and NARSUM
10/02/2018 Informal PEB completed (according to IDES)
10/15/2018 VA ratings went Historical
10/19/2018 Received VA decision in the mail
12/02/2018 Received 199
12/06/2018 Returned signed 199
12/13/2018 Received orders and memos for Medical Retirement for January 16, 2019.

The turn around time for orders was extremely quick, I wish I had longer than just over 30 days to check out especially with holidays coming up, that leaves whatever time I can get off my civilian job and one drill weekend to get checked out, I guess I was expecting closer to 90 days.

FYI for guard personnel being medical retired, make sure you send a copy of your orders and memo paperwork to your G-1 Section when you receive it, they have to do a discharge from the Guard the day prior to your medical retirement so that the paperwork processed correctly. I know I need to turn my gear into my unit but I am still figuring out what other things I need to do before January.

Thanks to everyone that has posted here I spent a lot of time reading and learning on this site throughout the process.

I received this memorandum in lieu of an LOD determination in my MEB packet.

'In accordance with the listed references, an LOD determination is required in order to
complete the DES process. This memorandum is in lieu of an LOD determination IAW
reference (c) to document service connection.'

Does the VA accept this kind of LOD for reservists?
