Hello all...

I have been diagnosed with PTSD, MDD, Panic Disorder, Chronic Insomnia over the past 6-12 months now. I have been on constant medication including benzodiazipines for panic attacks and medication for Anxiety and Depression / Insomnia. I have been on a temporary profile for a while since my diagnosis and have an appointment at a MTF soon a Command Directed Behavioral Health Exam I believe is what they are going to perform. I have not been able to find any information regarding what this entails? I have all my medical documentation with history etc and tests / in service connection from training.

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated thank you.

What do you want to happen. Command Directed Evaluations have lots of rules.

Well I believe it’s in the best interest for myself to exit service as continuation will just cause further damage I believe… I think my commander and Sgt are expecting a medical separation or retirement / med board. What rules do they have? Thank you for your response.

A CDE requires lots of things including legal representation; however, if you want to separate there is little to fight.

Well I have my evaluation in two days.. I believe that it is a fitness for duty exam that’s tied into my CDBHE.. With my medication and diagnosis I don’t think they will find me fit for service..

I wish you the best.

Thank you... I am eager to see what the examination will be like.. I was recommended by the provider to have a fitness for duty evaluation I believe it is the intent of the provider to separate.. but I have requested Jag services already to make sure everything will go okay with service connection etc...

Smart move, anytime you’re offered counsel, take it.

I don't think they will be able to answer my questions / provide guidance before the appointment date.. as its in two days but hopefully the provider will explain what everything means the their opinion going forward..

They are required to do so. In the past some folks abused command directed my evals. A process was codified by Congress to stop those abuses.

What abuses were happening if I can ask? Also will I have counsel before my appointment tomorrow at 9 AM or will I get counsel after the CDBHE Is concluded? I'm pretty anxious about it as is getting sick thinking about it... but I just want to be prepared and not caught off guard.

I originally referred myself for an evaluation because my symptoms of the diagnosis that I had finally started to show themselves, I have not had good guidance and heard as a Reservist requesting a CDBHE will be the quickest way to be evaluated and examined for your recommendation to MEB .. Not sure what the steps are after my first meeting on Tuesday for the "Eval"..

If you want out and referred your self, I hope all goes well.

Had the appointment today, kinda discussed what life has been like... the provider also diagnosed PTSD and Anxiety at the appointment. Did not say what she was going to recommend or anything to me but I made it clear that continuation of service I felt was making it worse... She did say she was going to update my profile because it was going to expire soon.... but I will have to wait and see what she recommends happens... I will receive a email or memo from my commander I assume?

Your profile should go from the clinic to your commander for signature. Your personnel program should be updates once it is signed. The AF called it MyPers.

Bump. Also wondering if anyone knows how long after the appointment it usually takes for someone to reach out? Thanks!

Any update to your situation?
