Asthma profile/ waiver

I was diagnosed with asthma in 2020 and have been seeing an pulmonologist since. I am on Flovent dikus 500/50 and albuterol and just found out that I should be on a permanent profile. I have a note from my pulmonologist saying that I should not be running or wearing any respirators or gas mask. I went through SRP last week and they made me non deployable, but I talked to my commander and he said that it can be waived. I have an appointment scheduled with a provider soon, Who makes the final decision on a medical waiver?

For deployments, the gaining combatant command SG makes the waiver decision. So if your headed to a CENTCOM deployment, CENTCOM/SG can waive you into theater.

Even if I have recommendations from my pulmonologist limiting me from wearing a pro mask? According to AR 40-501 if you are on repetitive or ongoing use of corticosteroids is cause for a P-3 profile which is medboard

MEB and deployment have different standards. The standards to deploy are very low. Remember not every job in theater is a combat job. I have nine deployments and people are not always assigned in theater to a job that is within their MOS/Rate/AFSC's job description. If an MEB is started you will be non-deployable.
