Camp Lejeune timeline

So they calculate our EAS by adding your leave balance + 20 days of PTAD. Once you receive a new EAS you can request an earlier EAS. The guy on the phone said they’ll give a form to fill out and has to be signed by your CO. Gonna try and get out by June 30th lol wish me luck.
So you can still take terminal right?

Yeah that’s why they add your leave days plus 20 days of PTAD.
If you’re found unfit you rate 20 days of PTAD btw everyone. I believe it’s MARADMIN 17/140

I also heard once the eas is updated in mol get to ipac ASAP since it can take up to 10 days to draft your dd214

Good to know I’ll run over there same day lol. Thanks

Having some confusions on my end. I mentioned the CO involvement and the MMSR-4 fellow seemed confused and said they don't consult any CO for any reason. I mentioned it because my CO just changed and the contact info on my board is no longer relevant. He asserted it's made without any outside influence and it just considers your leave and PTAD, nothing else.

CO is for getting an earlier EAS after you’ve already received the new EAS. Lets say new EAS comes back August 15th, but you start school August 20th so you want time to prepare. You call MSSR-4 and request an earlier EAS and then they’ll give you paperwork to fill out and your CO has to approve you getting a NEW NEW EAS. Hope that made more sense.

Ah okay. Wouldn't you be sacrificing money that way though? I'm told selling your leave days heavily taxes them and you generally get less money for transition.

Technically yeah you’d get more money by just taking as much terminal and then selling whatever you have left over, but there’s reasons to EAS sooner. I’m getting separated not retired so I’m getting like 28k in severance pay and I need the extra funds for a down payment on a house ASAP lol.

Down payment? Do you not plan on using a VA home loan authorization to avoid a down payment?

It’ll severely reduce my mortgage payments with a down payment.

I mean wouldn't it add up to the same over time? I guess you'd be hit with less interest all things considered. I definitely haven't given living arrangements nearly enough thought and the idea of having no income for up to two months is terrifying.

I've heard that if you retire you'll get your pension en lieu of your VA payments until those kick in but I've also heard that's not true, so I'm a little confused.

I'm headed to IPAC Seps to get some more answers tomorrow morning.

Yeah please keep us informed because whenever I get my findings and then sign I have no clue how anything past that point works

Can't post the contract certifying your findings were explained to you because it's CUI, but the findings aren't!

Looking at this document I was found unfit on the 5th or 6th of May. Really could've used the peace of mind but it's all over now.

20240517 VA raters forward proposals onto my claim. A decision letter quoting 100% permanent and total disability with 40% for my referred condition and one deferred claim was sent to me, along with a separate breakdown of individualized ratings proposals attached with instructions to the VSR. (4 days)
20240528 VA claim closes. Agents inform me that the old files I received were deleted from the claim, and new files attached. New files consist of a subsequent development letter stating I can claim more scars found on my exam along with an entirely different proposal letter. The proposal letter states I have been found unfit and that the VA is proposing 100% disability. I also receive an email from my MSC that the PEB is currently voting on a fitness determination. Once a determination is made the findings will return and I will be offered to sign or appeal. (11 days)
20240529 Jeff at the PEB confirms I have entered post-VA QA stage. (1 day)
20240613 Informal findings returned at 40% DoD, 100% VA P&T and PDRL. I accepted the informal findings on the spot. (15 days)

If you get your findings back you should give WWBn the courtesy of a phone call. They'll probably tell you a bunch of info you already know but it helps them declutter their roster I'm sure. Next updates will show when my new EAS populates and I'll make some other posts about what IPAC Seps say about what needs to happen.

Good Afternoon,

My PEB was also accepted on 17Apr24. I just hit up my IDES lawyer and she informed me I was found unfit on 07May24. She also indicated the PEB has requested my proposed ratings from the VA. It’s still a waiting game but I’m one step closer. I figured since we were all accepted on 17Apr24, your timelines are the same/similar.
My PEB was accepted on May 1st. It seems like from what I see all over here is that most of the time the service member has to reach out to find out if they are fit/unfit. In your guys' opinion do you think now would be a good time to try and get back with them? I don't want to be the guy that calls and bugs them a lot.

Be the guy that calls and bugs them a lot. They'll either be willing or won't be. You were almost certainly already found unfit but whether they'll tell you or not is up to them.
