Chain of Command Letters question...

Hello,

I applied for CRSC last year and was denied for my PTSD claim. I was medboarded honorably (2025) and it says combat related on my DD214 (I know this doesn't qualify me).

I gathered some more info and luckily I have communication with my COC including my PLT Sergeant who has held the O3 rank, my Company Commander who retired as an O4 and my 1SG. They all wrote letters for me connecting the claim. I also have a letter from my therapist (I know this won't be the best thing to have but I wanted as much as I could) to submit.

My DA199 specifically details the event that happened and what I was medboarded for.

Can someone tell me if the letters will help? This was in 2006 and paperwork is almost impossbile. The letters are all I have, and of course VA docs that mention the event also.

The letters are more valuable than the rest of your documentation tbh. Make sure they're all wet-signed, and contain cell and email contact info as HRC will be reaching out to them AND looking into their OMPF to ensure they were in your wartime COC. Good luck!

I also claimed PTSD and the letter/memo from my wartime command helped immensely. I ended up requesting one, because my CAB was denied (apparently due to some "politics", or whatever, at higher command). The memo i requested outlined the timeline of events, and my involvement. That being said, I am pretty sure that the Memo from my wartime 1SG made my case cut and dry and lead to my claim being approved. If you can get your hands on ANY letters from wartime command (specifically CDR or 1SG/CSM) i highly recommend that you include them in your packet. I also included all orders and awards from my deployment.
 
I use this as my yardstick when it comes to how well a wartime COC statement will do, regardless of service branch. Orders, on the other hand, can be amended/rescinded/revoked after the fact, therefore are not considered "source" documents:

Thank you for the reply...when you mention "wet" signature, I know that is them actually signing it but if I email the forms in they will be copies and not actually ink.

I was going to mail them in. Should I have them mail me their letters so the letters are the original one they signed actually and not a photocopy?
