Closed Claims

Good afternoon all, my VA app finally showed something today. I emailed my MSC about a proposed rating ahead of time and he told me my claims aren’t closed, they are at VA Providence, RI location for rating purposes. Are my claims considered closed?

What does it say when you click on it??
I’ve since figured out this issue. The people assigned to work with me through this medboard process are the absolute worst. The claims are indeed closed and I was able to call the VA to get my proposed rating ahead of time.

Seems to be the norm. My MSC told me "it's not my job to check the status of your claim, you'll get your results when the PEBLO has them and debriefs you." I hate that we don't get read only access in VTA to see our progress or status and have to rely on others to tell us what's happening. Its mind numbingly painful! Glad you got your claim closed and proposed ratings!

Yeah this whole process is beyond terrible. I had emailed my PEBLO and CC'd my MSC asking about an update and stated I saw it closed on the VA gov website. My PEBLO emailed me right back saying it was still with the VA. WHAT?? I asked for clarification again stating I saw the claim was closed and attached a screenshot to which she replied "Your next PEBLO will call you when they are ready". My MSC did reply afterwards to her credit with a long email explaining that it did in fact get mailed to the PEBLO and gave me an estimated wait time of 2-3 weeks and said hang in there you are almost done.
It's gross that it seems like all these PEBLOs act like we are a burden and can't give you a simple update on the status of YOUR case. We are already experiencing medical issues and are in this awful long term limbo of not knowing what our future holds and then we get treated like crap for wanting some sort of information. I hate it and I really hope this whole program gets massive reforms to be more transparent and expedient.

I had this same issue. I reached out to my PEBLO and she kept telling me she didn't track anything after she sent it off. I got proactive and started calling the VA. The VA rep helped me and told me they had already sent out my proposed ratings back on 9 December. I asked my PEBLO about this and she had clue. This was around January. I then called the VA back and they sent me my VA ratings letter. I sent that to my PEBLO and she didn't know how I got that but that she hadn't heard or received anything which was odd. This was on a Thursday. Then magically on Monday morning I get that call saying they received my findings and that I needed to come in and sign. I signed on 15 Jan and told orders should be available in as little as 30 days. It's been two weeks and nothing yet so hopefully soon

My claim closed 06JAN, which is what my proposed ratings letter is also dated. Can you give insight on how they decide which date you separate/start terminal? Do they just tell you a date or do you get a say? Thank you!

When I signed my findings they told me that admin would be contacting me when they get orders and then you'll figure out your dates if you have any leave available with them. I was also told I should be hearing from admin within 30 days of when the message goes out and your PEBLO sends the message out once you sign by 1400. It's been two weeks for me so I'm hoping to hear something soon and you should as well.

For Navy. Once you sign findings, more admin stuff happens in the background. At that point you wait for message traffic which tells you your date. For example, if you are being retired, a PDRL message will come out stating your last day. From there, you can use that to start terminal leave/PTDY. Your orders come later. If you don't have access to message traffic, find someone that does. Typically admin, NC, and the like and ask them to look out for your message.

Orders are important especially if you are trying to conduct a HHG or PPM move. Can't do the move without them.

Did you get your orders yet?

Lol hell no. My LIMDU coordinator in admin had no idea I was done ‍♂️. I had to bring him a copy of my paperwork that was never sent to him.

Yes. Separation date is scheduled for 14 April, but now I'm being told that something is up and that I'm probably to be here until my EAOS or close to it. LIMDU coordinator told me legal had reached out to him to extend me which doesn't make any sense since he had told me he didn't know I was done so idk what to believe or what the Command is up to. I have brought in a civilian lawyer to look into this because something isn't adding up with how they do things at my Command.

I'm sorry to hear. Any updates through your lawyer?

My lawyers aren't much help. I did bring in a civilian lawyer and we were told that the Command is looking to do an adsep now due to something my former spouse alleged during our divorce process. Allegations she has taken back but the Command now doesn't believe her. Allegations of not paying child support, but the Command was provided documentation from the Child Support Office that 1. I'm the custodial parent and 2. That they investigated the matter with the courts and submitted the matter as unfounded allegations. So I guess the Command doesn't care about what outside agencies say and have requested an adsep for what they call it was a Commission of a serious offense. I asked how and they say that it was a violation of a court order when I have a zero child support order and 100% custody of the children and they know that and have copies of everything..so yeah I'm here waiting to see if I actually leave at the end of April or if I'm here longer because PERS has to decide now. My lawyer says it's the CO trying to fu*k you over but we've already noticed PERS AND SECNAV of the COs stunt so we're just standing by.

I'm glad your lawyer got you some clarity. Now I hope PERS clears this up as there is no reason to drag this on any further. I'm crossing my finger for April!!
