So my commander was notified about my IPEB decision. Medical retirement. I still haven’t heard from my PEBLO but it’s only been a day.

I want to know if I’m crazy because the SEL told my Section lead that I’m retired as of today. I can’t work. I am still in the military to out process but as far as work is concerned I am retired. This isn’t some “hey don’t worry about coming in” type thing. They are saying I’m not allowed to work. I don’t even have my 1180 yet.

Is this normal or are they just that out of the loop?

Typically when units find out your unfit with retirement they pretty much treat you like you are already gone. From that point on its all about getting your affairs in order and working on outprocessing to include turning in your stuff to CIF etc. They are conditioned that way because back in the day units tried to pull crap on Soldiers and try to get them to work when they were supposed to be working on finishing up to retire. The units got yelled at from HRC and IG and that's why its that mentality.

You are on duty until orders say your not. But units often pick a day when they have no expectations of the member.
